According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on October 10, on the occasion of attending the 44th-45th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Vientiane (Laos), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet had a special breakfast exchange with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC).

At the event, the Prime Ministers and ASEAN BAC delegates discussed solutions to enhance cooperation and deepen the partnership of the three countries in economic integration, focusing on enhancing connectivity, including enhancing infrastructure and transport links to facilitate trade and investment flows; enhancing economic resilience; promoting policies that can withstand economic shocks and ensure sustainable growth; especially, the desire to empower the private sector, encourage greater participation and investment from ASEAN businesses in regional development initiatives.

The Prime Ministers emphasized their interest in the business community as well as ASEAN BAC; at the same time, they gave directions and orientations on cooperation for mutual development, especially in areas such as ensuring food security, digital transformation, infrastructure connectivity, industrial parks and key economic zones; thereby enhancing cooperation and promoting economic cooperation between the three countries in a practical and effective manner.

ASEAN BAC representative said that in 2024, the Council has put forward many ideas to promote economic cooperation, including projects to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promote digital transformation and sustainable development; affirming the commitment to focus on promoting the development of modern and smart logistics infrastructure, with important initiatives, the highlight of which is the Vinh Phuc ICD Viet Nam Superport Logistics Heritage project, a world-class logistics center, helping to strengthen connectivity of the supply chain across the region.

ASEAN BAC Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia committed to implementing activities under the direction and guidance of the Prime Ministers related to promoting reforms, improving the business environment and especially creating favorable conditions for small and medium enterprises towards sustainable, inclusive development, connecting businesses and people in the region.

Speaking here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have a long-standing cultural and historical tradition, closely connected in terms of geography, history, tradition of fighting for national liberation, protecting independence and sovereignty, and in socio-economic development today. The tradition of solidarity, attachment, and mutual assistance between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is a valuable asset, the foundation for developing cooperative relations, mutual trust, and a key factor in promoting solidarity and attachment between the three countries.

In recent times, many trilateral cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have been established and effectively promoted, contributing practically to consolidating and fostering cooperation among the three countries. Among them, economic-trade-investment cooperation has made strong progress, but is still not commensurate with the good political-diplomatic relations.

At the tripartite meeting on the occasion of this Summit, the Prime Ministers of the three countries agreed that economic-trade-investment cooperation needs strategic breakthroughs to match the stature of political relations and the potential and strengths of each country.

Appreciating the theme of this year's Summit, "ASEAN: Promoting Connectivity and Resilience," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the business community of ASEAN countries will continue to cooperate, support, and contribute to helping the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia raise their economic ties to the same level as their geographical, historical, and political-diplomatic ties.

Specifically, promote connectivity between the three economies in five areas: Soft connectivity (building institutions, mechanisms, and policies to promote the unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of the three countries and each country); hard connectivity, especially transport connectivity including aviation, road, rail, inland waterways, and sea; trade connectivity (promoting complementary advantages, forming production and supply chains linked to global and regional supply chains); digital infrastructure and energy infrastructure connectivity; and business connectivity.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the Vietnamese Government is committed to working with the Lao and Cambodian Governments to create the most favorable conditions for businesses to cooperate, invest and do business in the spirit of "listening and understanding together; sharing vision and action together; working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together; sharing joy, happiness and pride" with the three countries and three peoples./.
