Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines

According to the special correspondent of Vietnam News Agency, during his official visit to Australia, on the afternoon of March 7 (local time), in Canberra, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to visit the peaceful and hospitable country of Australia and thanked President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines for the warm and thoughtful welcome. The Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the regards and invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, looking forward to welcoming President of the Senate Sue Lines to Vietnam soon.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the official visit to Australia by the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation is of great significance, demonstrating the desire to work with Australia to further consolidate and deepen bilateral relations, as well as enhance close cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Australian Parliament, contributing to opening up new cooperation prospects in the coming time.

The Prime Minister shared that Vietnam today has achieved many achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, and has never had the potential, prestige and position it has today. These successes are partly thanks to the cooperation and support of international friends, including Australia.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Australia for always supporting Vietnam in the past with specific projects and works, supporting Vietnam with COVID-19 vaccines in the most difficult times, contributing to helping Vietnam become one of the countries with the highest COVID-19 vaccination coverage rate in the world.

Australian Senate President Sue Lines warmly welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their official visit to Australia, expressing her delight at the strong development of bilateral relations over the past 50 years and the recent establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries during this visit; and expressed her hope to deepen the relationship in the coming time.

The President of the Australian Senate said that she will soon visit Vietnam and the visit is to implement the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments signed in 2022. Recalling the very good impressions of the country and people of Vietnam during her previous visit, President of the Senate Sue Lines strongly believes in the development of Vietnam as well as the bright future of the relationship between the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to further strengthen people-to-people diplomacy, cooperate in combating climate change, and open direct flights to expand cooperation in education, training, and tourism. The two sides also shared experiences on issues of mutual concern such as gender equality, support for vulnerable groups, ethnic minorities, remote areas, and people with disabilities.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two National Assemblies continue to fully implement the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Australian Parliament signed during the official visit to Australia by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in 2022, hoping that the Australian Parliament will cooperate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the agreements signed between the two countries to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his hope that the Australian Parliament will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to contribute to Australia's development and the relationship between the two countries.
