Upon hearing the news of the tragic fire that occurred in Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi on the night of September 12, causing heavy losses in human lives and property, on September 20, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent a letter of condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Hun Manet sent his deepest condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the victims and their families after the tragic fire in Hanoi.

In the letter, on behalf of the Royal Government and people of Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Manet sent his deepest condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the victims and their families ; and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Vietnamese Government, the Vietnamese people will soon overcome these sorrowful moments.

On the same day, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar sent a letter of condolence to Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Earlier, Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan sent his deepest condolences to Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Sharing the loss and grief with the families of the victims, Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said that Singapore is ready to support Vietnam, including treating burn victims.

On behalf of the US Government and Embassy in Hanoi, Ambassador Marc Knapper sent condolences to the families of the victims of the serious apartment fire on Khuong Ha Street.

At 11pm on September 12, a 9-storey mini apartment building with about 150 residents in lane 29/70 Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward (Thanh Xuan district) caught fire. The fire spread from the first floor through the stairs to the upper floors, killing 56 people and injuring 37 others.

A week after the fire, the Hanoi City Police Department announced that the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical line in the battery area located at the front of the scooter.

On September 13, the case of Violation of Fire Prevention and Fighting Regulations, according to Article 313 of the Penal Code, was initiated. The owner of the mini apartment building, Nghiem Quang Minh, was detained for 4 months.
