Ha Huy Cong, from Nghe An, graduated half a year early with a GPA of 4/4 and won first prize twice in the National Student Olympiad - a rare case in Hanoi Pedagogical University.
Cong, 22 years old, is a student in the high-quality class, majoring in Biology Education, Hanoi National University of Education. On February 5, he received the decision to graduate 3.5 years early with an absolute grade point average (GPA).
"I'm a little proud of myself for keeping trying," Cong said.
In addition to his academic achievements, Cong won first prize twice in a row at the National Student Biology Olympiad, an award given to the individual with the highest theoretical score in the competition. He also came in second place in the Science and Technology Award for students at the school level; he co-authored two research papers published at the National Science Conference and the Asian Biotechnology Conference.
"Very few students can achieve results like Cong," said a representative of Hanoi National University of Education.

Cong is a former student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An Province. With a mother who is a primary school teacher, and inspired by teachers throughout his high school years, Cong soon decided to pursue a career in education. Cong also found this profession suitable because he is "quite gentle and loves children".
With the second prize in the national excellent student category in Biology for two consecutive years, and participating in the international Olympic team selection exam, Cong was admitted directly to many universities but still decided to choose Hanoi Pedagogical University.
As a former specialized student, having to explore to gain deeper knowledge in textbooks and ask teachers whenever he had any problems, Cong thought he would not have much difficulty entering university. Having met some of the valedictorians of his senior class, including former Phan Boi Chau specialized students, the male student also set a similar goal.
However, after the first semester, Cong had to study online for 3 semesters due to Covid-19. Not being able to meet teachers and friends in person made it difficult for him. Not to mention, many practical subjects were only taught through simulation.
Cong had to balance his emotions by listening to music every day. The male student maintained his own way of studying. For subjects that required a lot of memorization, Cong read and re-did the lessons in the evening, the same day he studied the lesson in class. Before the exam, Cong reviewed it again.
For subjects that require calculation, the male student finds his own homework to do. Especially for specialized subjects related to Biology - an experimental science, Cong does many experiments and observes phenomena and activities in practice to understand the nature.

Thanks to studying English well and reading English news and documents every day, Cong has access to many good documents from abroad.
"This helps a lot in my studies and scientific research," Cong shared. Thanks to that, Cong was able to participate in a student exchange trip to Nara Women's University - Japan last year.
"That was also the most stressful time for me because I had to do a research project to report in Japan, study 10 subjects at school, and prepare for the National Biology Olympiad for Students," Cong said. Many days Cong had to stay up until 2-3am, and sometimes he had to ask for a day off from the first class of the next day.
Having taught Cong some subjects in class and guided Cong in his scientific research, Dr. Le Thi Tuoi, lecturer in the Biology Department, Hanoi National University of Education, was impressed with the meticulousness and perfectionism of her student.
Ms. Tuoi commented that Cong is always serious, completing all assigned tasks above and beyond the requirements of his classwork. As for scientific research, the male student works with a plan and strictly follows it.
"For students who intend to graduate early like Cong, the schedule is very tight but you still arrange time to go to the lab. In any job, you always do your best to make a good impression on the teachers you meet," Ms. Tuoi shared.

As a Pedagogy student, Cong has an internship in his third year and an internship in his final year. He chose to go to Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted and Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An for these internships.
"Internship is an interesting and useful time for any student," Cong said. He remembered teaching 10th graders in his old teacher's class. Because the specialized subject test was a bit difficult, the students did not study, and the class's scores were quite low. He wanted to "scold" the students, but the intern teacher could not do it because there were 35 students in the class, "all of them were lovely."
Right after the first semester internship of his final year, Cong successfully defended his graduation project. Looking at his all-A transcript and perfect GPA, Cong said that his four years of university were quite fulfilling and he had nothing to regret.
"Teaching is my favorite subject, so I accept everything comfortably and everything goes very smoothly," Cong shared. The Nghe An boy hopes to return to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted to teach. In the near future, Cong plans to study higher.
