On January 25, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced that the Department of Telecommunications issued Official Dispatch No. 409/CVT-CPTN announcing the withdrawal of telecommunications number reserves allocated to SPT.
The Department of Telecommunications announced that it will withdraw the telecommunications number allocated to SPT before March 31.
Previously, the company was allocated a telecommunications number warehouse by the Department of Telecommunications to operate telecommunications services (including landline numbers, 1800 and 1900 numbers). However, SPT did not pay the fee for using the telecommunications number warehouse to the state for a long time, causing a great impact on state management.
According to Mr. Tran Duy Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications, based on Point c, Clause 2, Article 50 of the Law on Telecommunications, which stipulates the recovery of telecommunications numbers in cases where organizations and individuals have been allocated telecommunications numbers but do not pay usage fees, the Department of Telecommunications announced that it will recover the telecommunications numbers allocated to SPT Company before March 31.
To ensure the legitimate rights and interests of businesses and service users related to telecommunications services provided by SPT, the Department of Telecommunications informs customers who are using telecommunications services associated with landline phone numbers, 1800, 1900 numbers... provided by SPT to know and prepare alternative plans to avoid damage caused by businesses having their telecommunications number warehouse revoked.
According to the provisions of the Law on Telecommunications, the revocation of telecommunications numbering will be carried out in the following cases: revocation to serve national interests, public interests, socio-economic development, national defense and security. The purpose and subjects of using telecommunications numbering are no longer consistent with the planning. Organizations and individuals who have been allocated telecommunications numbering do not pay allocation fees and usage fees.
Once a decision has been made to revoke the number, if the enterprise continues to use the telecommunications numbering system, it will be administratively fined from 140 to 170 million VND and forced to revoke the telecommunications numbering system and return any illegal profits gained from the violation.
SPT was established in 1995, headquartered in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the second licensed telecommunications network operator in Vietnam. SPT specializes in providing postal and telecommunications services nationwide such as: postal services, mobile phones, landline phones, toll-free services (1800), low-cost long-distance telephone services, etc.
