The parallel route started construction in October 2017 under the BT (build-transfer) contract with a length of nearly 4 km, including two 20 m wide, 4-lane sections, located on the right side of the expressway in the direction of Long Thanh - Dau Giay. Of which, section 1 is more than 3.2 km long, connecting Mai Chi Tho Avenue to Do Xuan Hop Street. The remaining section is nearly 700 m long, connecting Do Xuan Hop Street to Ring Road 2. On the route, there are 2 bridges, Ba Dat Bridge and Muong Kenh Bridge, which have also been built. In addition, sidewalks, drainage systems, lighting, trees on both sides of the road... are also being completed.
People move on the road after the opening
According to Mr. Hoang Tung, Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee, the opening and putting into use of the section will contribute to completing the traffic network of Thu Duc City in general, and the An Phu intersection area in particular; helping to reduce the load on the expressway access road, smooth traffic with neighboring routes such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Do Xuan Hop, Mai Chi Tho, conveniently connecting to Ring Road 2 and synchronizing with An Phu intersection.
In particular, during the construction of An Phu intersection, the opening of the parallel road of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (section from Nguyen Thi Dinh to Do Xuan Hop) will contribute to supporting traffic organization in the intersection area, limiting traffic congestion in the An Phu intersection area and the highway access road, contributing to speeding up the construction progress and completing An Phu intersection according to the plan.
"Resolution 98 provides an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City and Thu Duc City to call for resources, especially BT and PPP capital in the context of limited budget capital to invest in improving the infrastructure system. In the coming time, Thu Duc City will launch BT-calling routes, especially existing routes. At the same time, organize urban development along Metro Line 1 to have more resources to invest in technical infrastructure and social infrastructure for Thu Duc City. Currently, Thu Duc City is also building Ring Road 2 and Ring Road 3, contributing to connecting the traffic systems of Thu Duc City and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, contributing to urban beautification", said Mr. Hoang Tung.
The route will help reduce the load on the highway and help reduce traffic congestion at An Phu intersection.
Mr. Phan Cong Bang, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, proposed that relevant departments urgently coordinate and support investors to complete the adjustment of investment projects, remove obstacles, promptly hand over the site to complete procedures, and complete the remaining section, from Do Xuan Hop Street to Ring Road 2, and strive to open the entire route to traffic in 2024.
A representative of Nguyen Phuong Company - the project investor, said that the unit will continue to proactively coordinate with relevant parties to speed up the progress so that the project can open the entire route to traffic as planned, contributing to maximizing the effectiveness of traffic works that have been and are being invested in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City and the region.
