The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Tanh Linh district said that from 2:00 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. on August 30, heavy rain and tornadoes occurred in Tanh Linh district, with the most severely affected areas being Gia An and Huy Khiem communes. The total estimated damage as of noon on August 31 was over 460 million VND.

Accordingly, at the above time, heavy rain caused local flooding of 8 houses in hamlet 7 and hamlet 8, Gia An commune, the water level was 1-3 m deep; the corrugated iron roof was blown off, completely damaging the main house of Mr. Nguyen Duc Ngoc's household (hamlet 2, hamlet 4, Huy Khiem commune) with an area of ​​about 72 m2 of roof blown off.

Heavy rain and lightning also damaged a refrigerator of a resident, lightning struck and burned the recorder of the Gia An Commune Police Security Camera system. At the same time, the wall of about 85 m/4 households in village 8 collapsed. Heavy rain also washed away 4,000 sets of clothes and pants of Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hanh garment factory, village 7, Gia An commune; about 60 pots of ornamental plants of various types and over 6,100 seedlings of squash in the nursery of the residents were swept away. The total value of damage caused by natural disasters on August 30 is estimated at over 460 million VND.

Immediately after the disaster, the District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control directed the People's Committees of Huy Khiem and Gia An communes to mobilize shock troops and commune police to help families whose roofs were blown off and flooded clean up, transport belongings and arrange temporary accommodation for people to stabilize their lives. At the same time, they coordinated with the People's Committees of communes to visit and encourage the affected families. The communes deployed garbage collection and dredging of streams in residential areas, and local irrigation canal drainage systems to help drain water faster to limit damage.

It is known that at this time, Ham Thuan Bac, Tanh Linh, Duc Linh districts are proactively responding to and preventing floods, inundation, and landslides in the downstream areas of the La Nga river basin. Specifically, localities have disseminated and informed people in communes and towns along the La Nga river basin about the plan to regulate flood discharge through the Ham Thuan reservoir spillway so that people in the downstream areas of the spillway can proactively respond to and prevent floods in areas at high risk of flooding when the project discharges floodwaters.

Proactively evacuate people, property, and vehicles of households living along the riverbed, riverbanks, and low-lying areas; place warning signs in underground areas, culverts, and river overflows and prohibit people from wading across rivers and streams when Ham Thuan reservoir releases flood water to regulate water. Check and proactively harvest agricultural and aquatic products that are due for harvest along La Nga river, do not graze livestock and poultry along the river, minimize damage caused by floods...
