Cutting the ribbon to open the exhibition.
This is the third exhibition season in the series of art projects "Traces of the Past and Culture", following the success of the previous two seasons: "Traces of the Past and Culture" (2022) and "Soi Bong Thang Long" (2023). The exhibition "Thien Quang" explores the story of the sacred light of Heaven and Earth shining on Thang Long - a place where culture, history and the quintessence of traditional crafts converge. The works focus on recreating the development of famous craft villages such as silk weaving, weaving, dyeing, embroidery and sewing; bronze casting, blacksmithing, gold, silver and tin crafting; carpentry to make beds, cabinets, tables, chairs, chests, mirrors and combs; lacquerware, votive paper making, seal carving, boat and raft building, sail and rope making; flower growing... of ancient Thang Long.
Works combined with light art.
This year's exhibition brings together works made from traditional materials such as lacquer, silk, ceramics, do paper... combined with modern techniques such as iron, stainless steel, mica, glass, modern lamps, oil paints, acrylic, synthetic... In particular, light is exploited as the central element, creating a free, liberal exhibition space, interacting with all dimensions. In particular, this year's exhibition introduces a joint work called "Thien Quang Well". This is a creative combination of 9 artists, inspired by the heritage "Thien Quang Well" at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam. The work is designed in the form of a round lamp with artistic pieces representing famous traditional crafts of Thang Long, conveying the meaning of the light of knowledge, culture and long history. The exhibition takes place at the Front Hall, Thai Hoc area from December 22, 2024 to March 25, 2025.
