According to Tech Unwrapped , although Apple has only updated the list on its US website, it implies that these products are considered obsolete worldwide. This is because the company does not differentiate this category by country or region.

The 27-inch Thunderbolt Display has been sold by Apple since 2011.

Speaking of the two products that have just been added to the obsolete category, they include the 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display that was released in 2011 and the first-generation iPad Air (both Wi-Fi and LTE variants) with all storage options that were released in 2013. That makes those products 12 years and 10 years old, respectively.

If you still own either of these devices, you should know that they are past Apple’s official repair lifecycle. Essentially, you won’t be able to purchase official replacement parts, nor will you be able to take them to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Center when your device needs to be repaired.

It is known that an Apple product is considered obsolete when it has not been in circulation for at least 7 years. Therefore, obsolete iPad models include iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini 3, and iPad models 1/2/3/4.

In addition to its obsolete products list, Apple also has a category of products that it considers “vintage.” These are products that have been discontinued for a long time but have not yet passed the 7-year limit (or Apple simply thinks it hasn’t yet) and can continue to be officially repaired. This list includes the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st generation), and iPad 5.
