Thanh Van focuses resources on building new rural areas

BHG - Identifying the construction of New Rural Areas (NTM) as a key task, in recent years, Thanh Van commune (Quan Ba) has focused on mobilizing resources and promoting the spirit of solidarity of the people to gradually complete the criteria, aiming to reach the NTM finish line in the shortest time.

Coming to Thanh Van commune today, one can clearly see the strong transformation, the intra-field and inter-village roads have been concreted, making travel and trade more convenient. In 2024, implementing the motto "State and People work together", people donated hundreds of square meters of land, contributed thousands of working days to expand and harden many important roads.

Typically, Lung Cung village completed a 5 km long internal road; Mo Sai village completed a 1.4 km long concrete road. Along with that, the movement "Volunteer Saturday towards New Rural Areas" was strongly implemented, attracting a large number of people to participate in environmental sanitation, waste collection, and tree planting. "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" roads are gradually taking shape, contributing to improving the quality of life for the community.

Mr. Thao Din Tan, a resident of Lung Cung village, shared: “Previously, the road was very difficult to travel, especially during the rainy season. Since the internal road was expanded, transporting agricultural products has become easier, and life has also improved significantly. We are very excited and continue to contribute to completing many other projects.”

Building a new rural area not only focuses on improving infrastructure but also aims to increase people's income. Taking advantage of land and climate, Thanh Van commune promotes sustainable agricultural production.

The whole commune currently has 1,400 hectares of agricultural land, including 60 hectares of medicinal plants, 500 hectares of corn, 160 hectares of peanuts, 69 hectares of soybeans... Total food output reaches 2,342 tons/year. Livestock farming develops in a safe and sustainable direction with a total herd of 3,567 cattle, 31,400 poultry, and 1,375 beehives. Effective production models have been implemented, helping to increase people's income. Thanks to that, the poverty rate has decreased to 13.47%, contributing to significantly improving people's lives.

At the same time, Thanh Van commune also focuses on improving the quality of cultural and spiritual life for the people. One of the issues focused on is eliminating backward customs and practices, reducing the situation of early marriage and incestuous marriage. In 2024, the commune organized many legal dissemination sessions and competitions to learn about early marriage and incestuous marriage, helping to raise awareness and change people's thinking about marriage and family.

Ms. Sung Thi Po, Thanh Long village, shared: “In the past, many families had children who got married at a very young age. But thanks to the propaganda sessions, I understand that early marriage has a big impact on the future of children. Now, we encourage our children to study and develop themselves before getting married.”

The commune also pays special attention to education development, ensuring the maintenance of student numbers and improving the quality of teaching. Health care and disease prevention programs are implemented synchronously, helping people have better access to medical services. To date, the rate of households using clean water has reached 98%, and clean water projects continue to be invested in and built.

Comrade Chu Thi Xuan, Chairman of Thanh Van Commune People's Committee, said: "Up to now, the commune has completed 9/19 criteria in the New Rural Development Program, including planning, electricity, schools, information - communication, education - training, health care, culture, political - legal system and national defense - security. New Rural Development is an important and long-term task, we focus on mobilizing all resources, supporting livelihoods, vocational training for people, promoting production development, and increasing income. At the same time, we continue to complete the remaining criteria, striving to bring the commune to the New Rural Development finish line as soon as possible."
