Decisive involvement
During the recent flood, the city had over 13,600 households affected, many residential areas were deeply submerged in water. Immediately after the water receded, Comrade Ta Duc Tuyen, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee chaired a meeting to discuss strengthening solutions for waste collection after floods and storms. City leaders directly inspected and directed at heavily flooded areas, mobilizing all resources to ensure safety for people, especially in residential areas, public works and production facilities.
The City Party Committee and People's Committee mobilized functional forces, including police, army, youth union members, businesses and social organizations, to focus on supporting environmental sanitation, restoring traffic infrastructure, electricity, water and communications. After only 5 days of rapid cleaning, Tuyen Quang city quickly removed the mud and waste, restoring its original cleanliness. Specialized agencies also coordinated with medical forces to spray disinfectants to prevent disease outbreaks after the flood.

In addition, the city also focuses on supporting people to overcome economic losses. Relevant units have promptly implemented policies to provide timely support to people who suffered property and crop losses, as well as support production and restore daily life. The local banking system has also stepped in with financial support packages, creating conditions for people to borrow capital to restore production.
The local government and public utility companies have also urgently carried out repairs to electricity, water and other public utilities. Mr. Le Van Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tuyen Quang Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, said that the company quickly checked and fixed the problem to restore water supply to the people on the first day the water receded.
Power lines that were cut off to avoid danger during floods were quickly restored, ensuring normal life for people after the natural disaster.
Overcoming consequences, ensuring social security
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang City, as of September 20, there were 16 damaged traffic routes in the city, including 10 urban routes and 6 communal routes. The estimated cost of repair is more than 22.8 billion VND. Immediately after the damage occurred, the People's Committee of the city directed the road maintenance management unit to deploy traffic safety work, immediately clear soil, rocks, garbage, and traffic flow, and assign officers and civil servants to coordinate with the management unit to inspect and be on duty 24/7 to grasp the situation and handle when necessary, such as: stretching ropes, placing warning signs to ensure traffic safety.
The recent flood broke the culvert, washed away a 30-meter long section of the inter-commune concrete road between Trang Da (Tuyen Quang City) and Tan Long (Yen Son), disrupting traffic since September 11. The City People's Committee promptly directed the Commune People's Committee and relevant agencies to build a temporary road through Hamlet 4, thanks to which people and students were able to travel normally by September 20.
The recent floods have caused significant damage to businesses in Tuyen Quang city. Many businesses were flooded, causing damage to goods, equipment and facilities, especially stores in the city center. Typically, Hung Hoa Electrical Appliances Company Limited suffered damage to household electrical products that were swept away by floodwaters; televisions, washing machines, refrigerators were submerged in water... Vietcombank suffered damage to 2 ATMs, 1 passenger elevator, 1 cash elevator, rolling doors, large generators... HDbank suffered damage to ATMs, generators, basic construction systems on the first floor...
The Vincom Plaza shopping mall suffered severe damage due to a breakdown in the basement electrical system, delaying the restoration of operations. Businesses were disrupted for several days, directly affecting their revenue. Banks, although promptly resolving the problem, also faced infrastructure damage and had to focus resources on supporting customers during this difficult period.
Faced with the commercial damage caused by the flood, the leaders of Tuyen Quang city quickly directed relevant units to focus on overcoming the consequences, ensuring the early stabilization of business and service activities in the area. For the Vincom Plaza Commercial Center, the unit also urgently fixed the electrical problem in the basement to put the center back into operation as soon as possible. Enterprises and small businesses are encouraged to step up cleaning and repairs to quickly restart commercial activities. The city leaders also requested banks in the area to ensure the safety of the system and financial services, and support businesses and people to overcome difficulties after the incident.
Floods have severely affected people's agricultural production. Specifically, more than 902 hectares of rice, 178 hectares of corn, 63.7 hectares of vegetables, more than 91 hectares of aquaculture ponds, 12 fish cages, more than 9,000 poultry, 43 cattle... were damaged. The City People's Committee has directed the People's Committees of communes and wards; the City Agricultural Service Center to inspect and guide people in handling fields, preventing diseases that often arise and cause harm after floods; synchronously implementing effective disease prevention and control measures, especially African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease...
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nong Thi Toan said: After the historic flood, Tuyen Quang city is overcoming the consequences and gradually restoring production. The city's key task in the coming time is to focus all its efforts on overcoming the consequences, supporting people and promoting socio-economic development. The city has deployed funding to support people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 (phase 1) allocated in Decision No. 18/QD-MTTQ-BVĐCT dated September 18, 2024 of the Provincial Relief Mobilization Committee.
In the coming time, the City People's Committee will continue to direct the People's Committees of communes, wards, agencies and units to focus on directing and mobilizing forces to participate in helping and overcoming the consequences caused by flooding, stabilizing people's lives.
