Joining in the atmosphere of the youth of the whole country competing to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025), the 36th anniversary of the National Border Defense Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2023), and at the same time, launching the movement "I love my Fatherland". The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of the province organized the launch of the program "March Border Month" in 2025.
This year's "March on the Border" program was held in An Tuc commune, one of the heroic communes of the People's Armed Forces of Tri Ton district. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of An Giang province Do Minh Sang said that An Tuc commune was a revolutionary base in the two resistance wars against France and the US, where there is a national historical relic of Tuc Dup hill, known as "the 2 million dollar hill". Currently, An Tuc is one of 5 particularly difficult communes, with a large population of Khmer ethnic minorities. Therefore, the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of the province selected the locality to implement the "March on the Border" program. On that basis, educating revolutionary traditions; propagating awareness of building a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and sustainable border; contributing to promoting the spirit of vanguard, volunteerism and creativity of young people in participating in socio-economic development and new rural construction. At the same time, actively care for people and youth in border areas and ethnic minority areas with many difficulties.
Many meaningful works and projects of An Giang youth in the program "March on the border"
The program mobilized resources of over 600 million VND to care for the people, youth and teenagers of Tri Ton district. Of which, the Youth Social Work Center supported the construction of 2 An Yen bridges in An Tuc commune, worth 400 million VND. Tri Ton District Youth Union planted 250 new trees, worth 20 million VND. In addition, the Center for Reading Culture Development and Publishing Economy donated a reading and team activity space to An Tuc Secondary School, worth 50 million VND and donated a bookcase with 500 books to 2 primary schools in Tri Ton town.
The reading and team activity space at An Tuc Secondary School has many features and utilities; designed to suit the characteristics and culture of the locality. The selected books are diverse in genre and field, such as: History, science, ethics, lifestyle, skills... In particular, books and stories about the historical traditions of the Vietnamese people, the struggle and national liberation of President Ho Chi Minh; the examples of typical heroic martyrs of the Youth Union and Team organizations...
According to Nguyen Thi Bich Thuc, Principal of An Tuc Secondary School, the school has 90% of Khmer ethnic minority students, of which about 50% are poor or near-poor. Therefore, it is difficult to mobilize parents to take care of school activities. “Having a “Space for reading and team activities” will create favorable conditions for students to live and study. The school promises to put the project into proper and effective use, contributing to improving the quality of education at the school,” Ms. Bich Thuc shared.
In addition, at the launching ceremony of "March on the border", the An Giang Provincial Young Doctors Association and the Department of Health's Youth Union organized medical examinations and provided free medicine to 250 children and people of An Tuc commune, with a total value of 50 million VND; the Youth Union of the Government Office, the Provincial Youth Union - the Vietnam Youth Union of the province presented 15 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances, with a total value of 22.5 million VND; the Loving Car Trip Club and the True Partner Corporation presented 10 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances, worth 1.5 million VND/scholarship.
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of An Giang province, Do Minh Sang, affirmed that March is the month for all levels of the Youth Union, associations, members and young people to promote their dynamism and creativity in participating in socio-economic development, building new rural areas, especially in border areas. "With the spirit of "Wherever there is a need, there are young people, wherever there is difficulty, there are young people", I hope that this March, all levels of the Youth Union and associations will continue to carry out projects and tasks of practical significance to the border areas of the country in general, and An Giang province in particular" - Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Youth Union, Do Minh Sang, emphasized.
