At around 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2025, on Gianh Bridge, connecting Bo Trach District and Ba Don Town ( Quang Binh ) on National Highway 1A, a series of traffic accidents occurred between 3 cars, causing the National Highway to be blocked, with a line of cars stretching over 3 km. By 8:00 p.m., the serious traffic congestion was still occurring, with vehicles moving very slowly.

During the day, local police inspected, detected and handled 8,666 violations; temporarily detained 37 cars, 2,324 motorbikes, and 90 other vehicles; revoked 426 driving licenses of all types; and deducted points from 1,085 driving license points. Of which, 1,669 were violations of alcohol concentration; 2,084 were violations of speed; 114 were violations of overloading; 38 were violations of oversize; and 10 were violations of drugs.

The Highway Traffic Control Patrol Teams of the Traffic Police Department inspected and recorded 204 violations, revoked 72 driver's licenses, deducted points from 50 driver's licenses, and detained 2 vehicles.

Through the monitoring system of the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Teams, 13 vehicles were detected violating the law on traffic order and safety. The Traffic Police stopped the vehicles, made a record of 2 cases, and sent violation notices to 11 cases.

In addition, through technical equipment, the Traffic Police detected 115 violations; stopped vehicles, made administrative violation reports for 63 cases; sent notices to vehicle owners for 52 cases. The number of violating vehicles detected through mobile patrols and video recording was 30 cases, made violation reports for 24 cases, and sent notices to 6 cases.

On the waterway, Waterway Division I and Waterway Division II of the Traffic Police Department and the Traffic Police Department of local Public Security inspected, detected and handled 204 violations.

On the railway, local police inspected, detected and handled 3 violations. Police increased their monitoring of the situation of ensuring order and safety of railway traffic and the operation of trains to proactively deploy measures to ensure traffic safety.
