Chan Tien Pagoda located in Yen Diem village, Thinh Loc commune (Loc Ha, Ha Tinh) is not only a place with beautiful scenery but also a place to educate the younger generation about traditions.
Chan Tien Pagoda is located on Am Tien Mountain (one of the 99 mountains of the Hong Linh range), amidst a cool pine forest, with a poetic and majestic landscape.
The pagoda was built during the Tran Dynasty (13th century). Although it was built a long time ago and has undergone many renovations, the pagoda still retains its solemnity and antiquity with the typical architectural features of the Tran Dynasty.
Not only is it a famous relic of Loc Ha land, Chan Tien Pagoda is also a revolutionary historical relic, a testament to the heroic history of our ancestors. According to historical documents, Chan Tien Pagoda was once a training base for the insurgents in the Can Vuong movement and also a gathering place for the Confucian scholars protesting against taxes in the Central region.
In particular, Chan Tien Pagoda was also the place where the Yen Diem Party Cell was established on April 25, 1930. This was also the meeting place to discuss plans to fight against the imperialist war (July 29, 1930), support the Russian October Revolution and carry out a new struggle of the Can Loc District Party Committee (November 5, 1930). In addition, this was also a hiding place, a place to print and distribute leaflets for revolutionary soldiers.
The Tam Bao house worships Buddha. The Buddha worshiping house has an architecture consisting of 3 rooms with yin-yang tile roofs, 4 pillars, and walls on 3 sides.
Chan Tien Pagoda still preserves a number of rare religious artifacts dating back hundreds of years.
The Mother Goddess Temple is located to the right of the main hall, decorated with sophisticated patterns and motifs such as dragons, moons, flowers and leaves...
The birth of Chan Tien Pagoda is associated with mysterious stories about the legend of fairies descending to earth that have been passed down by folk since ancient times.
Every year, on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists and tourists return to the pagoda to participate in the Chan Tien Pagoda Festival. This is an indispensable spiritual and cultural activity in the spiritual life of the people of Thinh Loc in particular and Ha Tinh in general.
When coming to Chan Tien Pagoda, if you go in all four directions, visitors will enjoy many beautiful scenes and relics associated with myths and legends such as fairy footprints, fairy chessboard, Son Tinh foundation...
Next to Chan Tien Pagoda there is a special rock. Legend has it that this is the footprint left by a fairy after she came down to earth to travel.
To make it convenient for people and tourists to learn about the pagoda, the Management Board of Chan Tien Pagoda has created a QR code to look up information.
With its great historical, cultural and artistic values, Chan Tien Pagoda was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in 1992.
Chan Tien Pagoda is one of the beautiful and sacred ancient pagodas, respected and preserved by locals and tourists alike. The pagoda not only preserves cultural and artistic values but is also a “red address” to educate younger generations about historical origins.
