Inspired by real events after 1967, the film tells the story of the life and fighting of a 21-man guerrilla team led by Bay Theo (played by actor Thai Hoa) at Binh An Dong base (Cu Chi).

As one of the underground tunnel squads, Bay Theo’s team was assigned to support Hai Thung (played by actor Hoang Minh Triet) in “protecting military medical equipment and medicine for the field hospital”. But in reality, their mission was much more difficult, which was to protect the safe area so that Hai Thung’s strategic intelligence team could transmit important secret documents by radio waves.

Ms. Dao Huyen Trang was impressed with the way the film realistically recreated the Cu Chi tunnels.

Ms. Dao Huyen Trang (Pho Chau town, Huong Son) expressed: “What impressed me most was the way the film realistically recreated the Cu Chi tunnels. The feeling of suffocation, darkness and suffocating tension enveloped me while watching the film. From the fierce bombings to daily life in the narrow tunnels, everything was portrayed vividly as if I were really there. The image of young soldiers in the tunnels, despite facing danger, still steadfastly overcame everything thanks to their comradeship, love, youthful enthusiasm and above all, their deep patriotism left a deep impression on me.”

Above all, the film has skillfully created an invisible but powerful “bridge”, connecting the heroic historical flow of our ancestors with the contemporary life of young people. Thanks to that, today’s generation can deeply feel the sacred values cultivated by the sweat and blood of the previous generation, thereby becoming more aware of the responsibility to continue and promote those precious spiritual heritages. Especially, in the context of celebrating the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day, the birth of a film rich in humanistic and historical values such as “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” becomes even more meaningful, contributing to educating and arousing national pride in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.

The film "Tunnel: Sun in the Dark" was directed by Bui Thac Chuyen, invested by businessman Nguyen Thanh Nam and several other businessmen. The film features artist Thai Hoa, Meritorious Artist Cao Minh and young actors such as: Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh, Diem Hang Lamoon, Bui Thac Phong, Nhat Y, Khanh Ly...
