This cooperation agreement marks an important step in bringing T&G's premium ENVY™ apple products closer to Vietnamese consumers.

With more than 8 years of strategic cooperation, the two units signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Ho Chi Minh City, witnessed by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

This cooperation agreement marks an important step in bringing T&G's premium ENVY™ apples closer to Vietnamese consumers. In the next two years, output is expected to increase by 50% thanks to expanding distribution across the majority of WinCommerce's nearly 4,000 stores, in addition to promoting and implementing product experiences, making it easier for customers to access ENVY™ apples.

“Vietnam is a key growth market for T&G, and this MoU further strengthens the partnership between the company and WinCommerce,” said Gareth Edgecombe, CEO of T&G Global. “Over the past five years, T&G’s ENVY™ apples have seen strong growth in market share. Now holding 40% of the market share in the segment, ENVY™ has become the leading premium apple brand in Vietnam.”

“As part of ENVY™’s growth strategy in Asia, we are focusing all our efforts on expanding the needs of Vietnamese consumers. Through this MOU, the partnership between T&G Global and WinCommerce will continue to be strengthened, while emphasizing the shared commitment of both parties to providing more customers with access to ENVY™ apples – delicious, high-quality apples that are available all year round.

“The story of T&G ENVY™ Apples is one of New Zealand’s most successful agricultural stories. Developed by our partners at Plant and Food Research New Zealand in 2008, the apple is now grown and cared for by us and our network of independent farmers in New Zealand. In particular, by licensing farmers in over 13 countries, we are proud that consumers in over 60 countries can enjoy premium ENVY™ apples every day.

With 70% of ENVY™ apples in Vietnam grown in New Zealand, this MoU promises to make a significant contribution to New Zealand’s export revenue and contribute to the development of the regional and national economy,” added Mr. Gareth Edgecombe.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, General Director of WinCommerce, shared: “At WinMart supermarkets and WinMart+/WiN stores, we always prioritize providing a variety of options, ensuring that Vietnamese consumers can access and experience high-quality products, whether domestic or international products.”

When mentioning the commercial successes and future potential, Ms. Phuong also affirmed: “ENVY™ apples are increasingly favored and chosen by many consumers, which proves the great potential of the Vietnamese market. The cooperation between WinCommerce and T&G demonstrates our commitment to bringing customers high-quality apples”.

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the MoU was a key part of his drive to boost export growth: “We have an ambitious target to double the value of our exports over the next 10 years, and New Zealand’s world-leading food and fibre sector, coupled with innovation and productivity, is key to achieving this. The MoU between T&G and WinCommerce is a testament to our journey to achieving that goal.”

T&G's apple product portfolio has been present in Vietnam for more than 15 years, with the company's representative office established in Ho Chi Minh City in 2019. Currently, T&G apples account for 19% of the total apple imports from New Zealand to Vietnam.
