Ship 20, a Pohang-class anti-submarine patrol ship, was received by the Vietnam People's Navy from the Republic of Korea Navy in October 2018.
Ship 20 and the Vietnam People's Navy delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Quoc Quang, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 3, are on their way to Langkawi Island, Malaysia to participate in activities within the framework of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA 2023) such as displaying naval ships, exhibition introducing career opportunities in the Malaysian Navy, reviewing ships, and LIMA Sea Exercise.
Long sea voyages are an opportunity for officers and soldiers on Ship 20, Brigade 172, Naval Region 3 to practice training content in different conditions and situations at sea.
Major Dau Thanh Hao, Captain of Ship 20, said that the combined training contents in this long sea voyage include: Air-to-air and sea-to-air combat layouts; ship survival protection; rescue of victims; anti-piracy. The training sessions aim to ensure closeness to actual combat; test the qualifications of sailors after training at the wharf while improving the health of soldiers. In addition, the training sessions also help improve the capacity of organizing and coordinating command, combat readiness, and the level of mastering weapons and equipment in conditions of long-term operations at sea.
After being received by the Vietnam People's Navy, Ship 20 was modernized with some equipment to further improve the ship's technical features as well as the ability to exploit and use weapons and equipment.
The main weapon system of Ship 20 includes: 2 Oto Melara 76mm cannons; 2 Oto Breda 40mm cannons; 6 MK32 torpedo launchers; 2 MK9 depth charge launchers; MK33 jamming system.

“Iron discipline” in combat training on missile frigates 

On the journey to Singapore and the Philippines to carry out foreign defense missions, Missile frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao of Brigade 162, Naval Region 4 organized training in missile attack, torpedo attack, air-to-air combat, and sea-to-sea combat with simulated tactical situations, to improve the unit's combat readiness.
Agencies and units deploy combat training in 2023
On February 28, the Military Region 7 agency block held a ceremony to launch training in 2023. Attending and giving instructions was Major General Dang Van Hung, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Region.

On March 30, in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province, a working delegation from the Naval Region 4 Command led by Colonel Nguyen Van Ngan, Deputy Chief of Staff, inspected the March combat training of Brigade 162.
Engineer Corps conducts combat training in 2022
On the afternoon of January 10, at Brigade 249, the Engineering Corps Command opened the 2022 Combat Training Course.
