Busy restoring peach trees after Tet

In the days after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, peach gardeners in Ha Tinh are busy restoring hundreds of peach trees to sell during the following Tet season.

After the Tet holidays, garden owners in Ha Tinh urgently collect peach trees to care for, prune, and shape them in the hope that the trees will bloom in time for the next Tet holiday to earn more income.

Mr. Truong Xuan Huy (Thach Linh ward, Ha Tinh city) said: "This year, my family's peach garden planted more than 200 trees. Luckily, the weather was favorable so the flowers bloomed right on Tet, and customers came to the garden to buy them all. To have peach trees to serve the market next year, from the 6th day of Tet, I took the opportunity to collect peach trees that had been played for Tet from regular customers to plant."

According to Mr. Huy, because care takes a lot of time and effort, he only chooses healthy, beautiful peach trees that are many years old and have the ability to recover quickly after replanting. Currently, he has collected and planted more than 150 trees, and in the coming days, his family will continue to collect peach trees to plant.

After being carefully planted, the peach tree will be watered by the gardener so that it can quickly take root and grow.

With more than 7 years of experience growing peach trees, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (Nguyen Du Ward, Ha Tinh City) said: "For peach trees, pruning is a very important step, helping the tree not waste nutrients to nourish the branches, thereby helping the tree to have new, plump branches, more buds and more flowers. In addition, planting and caring for peach trees must ensure the correct process and techniques from the very beginning to ensure the development and growth of the tree."

Since the Lunar New Year, Mr. Thanh has collected and planted nearly 200 new trees. Currently, he is still contacting familiar places to collect peach trees to plant.

According to gardeners, after taking the peach home, they have to change the soil, prune the roots, add fertilizer, water..., then prune the branches and remaining buds so that the peach can recover after the time of "exerting" to grow flowers for customers to display on Tet. Around the 8th lunar month, the stage is to bend the branches to create shape and position. Near Tet, they strip the leaves, fertilize... so that the tree blooms on Tet holiday.

At this time, peach growers in famous peach villages such as Luu Vinh Son (Thach Ha), Cam Hung (Cam Xuyen)... are also taking advantage of the time to collect and care for peach trees after the Tet holiday for customers. The sunny weather after Tet is very favorable for the "revival" process of the trees.

Mr. Tran Van Tuan (Kim Son village, Luu Vinh Son commune) said: "Taking advantage of the beautiful sunny days after Tet, I and other gardeners in the village urgently went to buy back peach trees that customers had played with during Tet to replant. From the 7th day of Tet until now, I have bought back more than 160 trees, with prices ranging from 150,000 to 400,000 VND/tree. Hopefully this year the weather will be favorable for the peach trees to bloom on time so that people can sell them at a high price."

Peach trees are entering the process of "revival", carrying the growers' wishes for a year of favorable weather for peach blossoms to bloom on time.
