Create social spread, create social effects and efficiency

The fourth National Anti-Corruption and Negativity Journalism Award, 2022-2023, was organized by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television, and officially launched on November 13, 2021 in Hanoi.

After 3 years, the Award has received increasing attention and appreciation from Party and State leaders, and the active participation of press agencies, reporters, journalists and people from all walks of life. Through the works submitted to the Award, it shows that journalists and press agencies have performed well in their tasks of propagating, detecting, and pursuing to the end a number of cases of preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

Cheers to journalists in their efforts to attack evil head-on

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung - Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 4th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption and Negativity, 2022 - 2023, stated that the National Press Award for Anti-Corruption and Negativity is considered a reward and a great source of encouragement for journalists in their efforts to directly attack the bad, bravely face the wrong and go to the truth. Thanks to those efforts, after each organization, the National Press Award for Anti-Corruption and Negativity continues to achieve many successes, especially attracting the attention and active participation of reporters of press agencies and people, contributing significantly to the results of the fight against corruption and negativity of the Party and State.

The coordination in organizing the Award between the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television has become increasingly close, methodical, scientific, and effective from the stage of propaganda, receiving entries to organizing the Award ceremony, leaving a good impression in the hearts of the people, readers, press agencies, journalists and reporters nationwide.

Mr. Vu Van Tien, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said that in order to carry out independent investigative topics, reporters must pay with sweat, tears, and even blood.

To carry out investigative topics on corruption prevention and negativity requires determination not only from reporters, groups of reporters, the will of the editorial board, and even the will of the governing body and the Editorial Board. Without this determination, the topics may be stopped right in the "egg water".

The role of the individual journalist is pivotal

According to journalist Do Doan Hoang: With the topic of preventing corruption and negativity, I myself have participated for many years, but recently, I have never seen the press atmosphere wanting to find solutions and ways out of negative problems in society as strong as it is now.

The most difficult thing for journalism to prevent corruption is that there are boundaries and issues that journalists cannot bring out their press cards to say when investigating: "I am practicing legally". Therefore, first of all, protecting journalists must start with the journalists themselves. Every journalist practicing their profession needs to know that we have the right to practice our profession, but what are the political and legal bases for practicing that profession?

Second, we are always faced with the question of whether the context of practice will give us the legal conditions to operate.

I always say that journalism is a profession that makes people see you as the most kind, and whenever we fall into a situation where we need help, there are people who love us and will support us. Of course, among those people, there are always the functional forces, the Vietnam Journalists Association at all levels.

I think that the role of the individual journalist is the core, because no one can save themselves but themselves and that requires knowledge, skills, and kindness. So a journalist fighting against corruption should not think that professional skills are number one, but that heart and morality are number one. One's own heart and morality create a spread of connection, support, and protection. And the ultimate goal of the investigative series is for the country, the people, for a sustainable social development, for what is close to all of us.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Steering Committee, and the Organizing Committee of the Award, Vice President Nguyen Huu Dung hopes that from now until the deadline for receiving entries - August 31, 2023, the coordinating agencies as well as press agencies, journalists, and reporters will continue to spread the content and message about the organization of the fourth National Anti-Corruption and Negative Journalism Award, 2022-2023 with the hope that this fourth Award season will be improved in terms of quantity and quality of press works compared to the previous 3 Awards seasons.
