This morning, August 8, in Hanoi, Prime Minister, Head of the State Steering Committee (SC) for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 13th meeting of the SC. Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the SC Tran Hong Ha also attended. At the Quang Tri province bridge, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; leaders of relevant departments, branches, localities, and the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board attended.

At the meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Transport said that the Steering Committee is currently monitoring and directing 40 projects with 92 component projects in 3 areas: road, railway and aviation; the projects pass through the territory of 48 provinces and centrally-run cities. With the strong direction of the Prime Minister, the close and effective coordination of ministries, branches and localities, and the efforts of the transport sector in organizing and implementing projects, to date, 2,021 km of expressways have been completed and put into operation.
Currently, the Ministry of Transport, localities and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) are implementing 38 projects and component projects with a total length of about 1,700 km. Of these, 25 projects and component projects with a total length of about 1,104 km are scheduled to be completed by 2025.
The projects implemented and completed contribute to promoting socio-economic development, creating new development space for localities where the projects pass through; creating jobs and livelihoods for people, developing businesses, creating trust and support from the people.
At the 12th meeting of the Steering Committee, the Prime Minister assigned 57 tasks to ministries, branches and localities to focus on removing difficulties and obstacles in site clearance, relocation of technical infrastructure, provision of construction materials and speeding up the construction progress of projects to complete 3,000 km of expressways by 2025. To date, the units have completed 20 tasks on time, are actively implementing 30 tasks of regular direction and management, and 1 task that has not yet been due; 6 tasks have not been completed on time.

Reporting at the meeting on the implementation of site clearance work for the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project, the section passing through Quang Tri province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung said that in recent times, the locality has always paid attention to and considered this a top priority task in order to focus on directing departments, branches, and localities to resolutely handle obstacles, difficulties, and problems in order to promptly hand over clean land for contractors to speed up the construction progress of the national key project.
Up to now, the locality has basically completed the compensation, payment of support for site clearance and handover of the entire cleared site to the investor. Regarding the work of identifying sand, rock and fill mines for the project in the province, the demand for use has basically been met with 5 mines assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to 2 contractors for construction.
Currently, the province is continuing to speed up the progress of completing infrastructure in resettlement areas to help people stabilize their lives before the rainy and stormy season; urgently resolving problems in site clearance for the access roads of overpasses, intersections, etc.
Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the active participation and the spirit of working with all their might of ministries, branches, localities, project management boards, construction contractors, supervision consultants, especially the team of cadres, engineers, workers and laborers directly working at project sites. In order to speed up the completion of important national and key projects in the transport sector, in the coming time, it is recommended that localities mobilize the entire political system to accelerate the progress and complete the site clearance work of the projects; relocate works, infrastructure and architectural structures to ensure quality, technique, safety and environmental sanitation; strengthen management, inspection, supervision, improve the quality of works, absolutely do not allow negativity, corruption, waste, bid-buying and collusion.
Localities should pay attention to and actively solve the problem of raw materials for projects; in parallel with speeding up construction progress, they must control the quality of works and pay attention to the disbursement of public investment capital.
Regularly dialogue, visit, encourage and mobilize people to support and back the implementation of projects. Launch a 500-day and night peak emulation movement to speed up progress, striving to complete 3,000 km of expressway by the end of 2025 to welcome Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress, celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
