TPO - Hanoi's air quality has been measured at the most polluted level in the world in recent days. One of the reasons cited is the construction sites and traffic projects that have been under construction for a long time on the road.
Along with traffic jams, the construction of two additional steel overpasses at the Mai Dich overpass intersection is also causing dust; the air here is often gloomy and hazy in the morning. |
The project was initially scheduled to be completed before the Lunar New Year, but is now under construction and scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of this year. |
The project to lower the dike and expand Nghi Tam - Au Co road has been under construction for many years and has not been completed. |
Along with traffic jams, residents here have had to deal with the project site blocking many roads and causing pollution for many years. The project is also on schedule to be completed in the second quarter of 2024. |
The Kim Dong - Giai Phong tunnel project (ring road 2.5) is also constructing items on the road. |
The large-scale excavation on Giai Phong Street and Kim Dong Street is being carried out by construction units, causing traffic jams and dust to constantly appear. |
As one of the key projects, the Hanoi urban railway project is currently 8 years behind schedule, but the construction of underground stations on the route is still not completed. |
The project is having to fence off roads, dig, and construct on many streets, affecting traffic and the environment. |
According to air pollution monitoring data from Pam Air (a reference information channel on air quality changes at various locations in Vietnam - PV), on the morning of March 6, the AQI index at many locations in Hanoi fluctuated mainly at over 200 units, a very bad level, warning of health effects for everyone. Air assessed that fine dust (PM2.5) in Hanoi is currently 38.2 times higher than the value according to the annual air quality guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Hanoi City Environmental Management Agency, there are 12 causes of pollution in the city, including: exhaust fumes from cars and motorbikes; burning coal stoves and firewood; construction, demolition of buildings; transportation of materials; foul odors from untreated drainage systems; and odors from livestock and poultry farms.
