Tam Dao is a famous tourist destination located in the Northeast of Vinh Phuc province, 60 km from Hanoi capital, 40 km from Noi Bai international airport. Tam Dao district has a natural area of 23,475.95 hectares. The population is more than 86,000 people, of which the ethnic minority population accounts for about 42.16%, mainly the San Diu ethnic group.
Located adjacent to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, with a rich history and cultural traditions and a climate and landscape favored by nature, Tam Dao has extremely favorable conditions to attract domestic and international visitors, serving tourism development.
Diverse types of tourism
Tam Dao National Forest is home to thousands of diverse species of flora and fauna; has a system of lakes, streams, waterfalls... In particular, Tam Dao Tourist Area is located at an altitude of more than 900m above sea level, with an average annual temperature of 180 degrees Celsius, making it an ideal place for tourists to relax, do scientific research, travel on business, and adventure travel...
Since the early 20th century, the French have chosen and built Tam Dao resort. With strong investment in recent years, Tam Dao has attracted millions of visitors to visit and relax every year. In January 2022, Tam Dao National Tourist Area was recognized as a National Tourist Area and in November 2022, Tam Dao town was awarded the World's Leading Destination Town 2022. Thereby affirming the position, the love of tourists and the future international tourism vision of Tam Dao.
Tam Dao has a rich system of traditional cultural heritage. The system of relics worshiping Gods and Buddhas is rich and diverse, distributed in almost all localities. The whole district has 124 relics, of which 17 are ranked at the provincial level, 1 is a special national relic (Tay Thien - Tam Dao historical relic and scenic spot) and 106 unranked religious and belief relics.

In particular, in 2018, the Soong Co folk song of the San Diu ethnic group was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. In 2020, the Tay Thien Mother Goddess worship was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In addition, many festivals are held annually in association with historical and cultural relics, attracting a large number of pilgrims to Tam Dao such as: Tay Thien Festival, Chan Suoi Temple Festival...
Efforts to create attraction
In recent years, with the attention of the Government, Central Ministries and Branches, the Provincial Party Committee - People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province, Tam Dao district has started construction of key projects for tourism development such as: Expanding National Highway 2B to Tam Dao town; Investing in and completing Tam Dao Park; system of historical relics in Tay Thien scenic area.

In order to make tourism a spearhead economic sector, a driving force to promote the development of all areas of social life, the Provincial People's Committee has issued the Project "Developing tourism in Tam Dao district to 2025, with a vision to 2030"; Project "Preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the San Diu ethnic group in Vinh Phuc province for the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030". Tam Dao district also improves the effectiveness and efficiency of administration and management of authorities at all levels in tourism and service activities.
Along with the concretization and implementation of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, Tam Dao district also continues to implement the planning of land lots for land use rights auction to create sources for investment and development, welcome and create favorable conditions for domestic and international investors in the area.
In order to create comprehensive appeal, the People's Committee of Tam Dao district has focused on developing the Project "Building civilized and friendly Tam Dao people to meet the requirements of sustainable development", and at the same time, implementing the pilot project of the model Cultural Village in the district in communes and towns.
Thanks to the comprehensive development with sustainable vision, Tam Dao increasingly attracts and retains tourists and leaves a good impression on anyone who visits.
It can be said that Tam Dao is transforming itself to make an impression and promises a lot of potential to break through on the tourism map of Vietnam in particular and the world in general.
