Tourism promotes many promotional activities, creating breakthrough opportunities for 2025

From the positive results of the whole industry in the first quarter of 2025, Vietnamese tourism is stepping up promotional and stimulus campaigns to attract international visitors, creating opportunities to break through and improve its position.

With the number of international visitors in the first 3 months of the year nationwide reaching over 6 million, the highest ever (up 29.6% compared to the first quarter of 2024), experts say that great opportunities are opening up for the country's smokeless industry in 2025.

Therefore, Vietnamese tourism is quickly implementing promotional and stimulus campaigns to attract more international visitors, creating opportunities to break through and improve its position on the global tourism map.

Promote on “all fronts”

Last March, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism launched the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Page (at the link https://2025.vietnam.travel), to update information and policies on visa exemption for Polish, Czech and Swiss citizens according to Resolution 11/NQ-CP of the Government; the 2025 tourism development stimulus program of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement Resolution 11/NQ-CP.

It will also update the list of international travel businesses registered to welcome guests according to Resolution 11NQ-CP; update promotional programs and service incentives of localities and businesses for tourists...

Notably, to promote Vietnamese tourism internationally, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has increased the provision of information to international visitors through the website https://vietnam.travel and social networking platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube... The content focuses on promoting the Government's new policy of visa exemption for 12 countries from March 15, 2025; introducing Michelin restaurants in Da Nang; tours to experience the culture, cuisine and history of Hanoi; introducing famous tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc Pearl Island, surfing in Mui Ne, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Phan Rang; introducing the 12 most wonderful attractions in Vietnam as recommended by The Times UK, outstanding tourism trends...

Regarding the domestic tourism promotion plan, the website of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration https://vietnamtourism.gov.vn continues to promote communication about special cultural and tourism activities and events taking place in many localities in 2025 to attract domestic tourists, notably: Opening of the Hue National Tourism Year 2025; Opening of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival; Hue Festival 2025; Opening of the 9th Martial Arts Festival in 2025; Opening of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025; Light Festival "Coffee World - Brightening Ban Me;" Lak District Dugout Canoe Racing Festival.

Besides, there are many exciting programs in localities such as: Da Nang Food Tour 2025; An Giang receives UNESCO recognition certificate and opens the festival of Ba Chua Xu mountain Sam; Putaleng festival of Tam Duong district in 2025 (Lai Chau); Ba Trieu Temple festival in 2025 (Thanh Hoa); Cherry Blossom Festival - Ky Thuong in 2025 (Quang Ninh); Phong Luu Khau Vai Market Festival in 2025 (Ha Giang); Thanh Ban Phu Festival in memory of General Hoang Cong Chat; Opening of the highland cultural space - displaying and promoting cultural and tourism products; Opening of the Dien Bien Ban Flower Festival 2025.

How to break out?

An open and transparent visa policy is one of the factors that attract international tourists to Vietnam and has shown positive results in recent times. That is why, on March 10, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Directive 06/CT-Tg on key tasks and solutions to proactively and flexibly adapt to the world and regional situation in order to achieve growth targets, maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major balances of the economy in 2025 and the following years. It requires competent authorities to study and propose to continue expanding visa exemption policies, visa incentives, drastically cutting administrative procedures, upgrading the electronic visa system, etc. to facilitate attracting international visitors to Vietnam.

Previously, the Prime Minister also requested to promote and advertise tourism; improve the quality of tourism products; organize cultural, artistic and sports programs to create highlights to attract tourists. Effectively implement the national target program on cultural development for the period 2025 - 2035; develop and implement a plan to develop cultural industries.

In particular, to improve its position on the world tourism map, tourism industry leaders have determined that there is only one way: green development in the context of needing to accelerate and maintain sustainable values.

Fast and durable, it sounds like an opposite, but in fact, experts say we can completely achieve both if we identify the right opportunity and have the right approach.

“Look at big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which are leading tourism centers with rapidly increasing numbers of visitors. And it is worth noting that this growth is no longer following the old rules. There are no longer clear seasonal boundaries, no longer dividing the market into single regions or times. Now, every market segment has the opportunity to grow, from domestic to international visitors, from high-end to mass visitors,” said Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, General Secretary of the Vietnam Tourism Association.

Therefore, this moment can create a “push” to help Vietnam tourism grow rapidly. And when the opportunity appears, we must seize it quickly to “accelerate.”

Therefore, in addition to policies and guidelines, Mr. Vu Quoc Tri said that the tourism industry also needs to focus on "inviting" businesses, not with empty calls, but with practical solutions and responsible companionship from committed organizations.

According to Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, if businesses only focus on the peak festival season, the whole industry will lack stability and cannot develop in the long term. Therefore, plans in tourism need to be built with an annual vision. To achieve that, businesses must invest in products, target markets, and systematic advertising and promotion methods.

Because only when tourism becomes a continuous flow throughout the year, not dependent on seasons or festivals, focusing more on product depth, creating tours, routes, and experiences suitable for each customer segment, thereby extending the length of stay, increasing spending and promoting sustainable business, can it develop by its own strength./.

In response to the Tourism Development Stimulus Program in 2025 launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the theme "Vietnam - Travel to Love," the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism) launched a video clip promoting the beauty of Vietnam tourism on the digital platform YouTube.

The video clip aims to spread the beauty of nature, culture, country and people of Vietnam, inspire travel, attract tourists to admire, learn, experience and explore; contribute to affirming the position and brand of Vietnam tourism as the world's leading attractive destination.
