On the afternoon of December 12, the Vietnamese team continued their training schedule at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho. The whole team is working hard to finalize their tactical plans for the match against Indonesia on December 15.
The Vietnam - Indonesia match will likely decide the situation in Group B of the ASEAN Cup 2024. Both teams are considered the strongest in the race for the top spot.
Sharing before the training session, striker Bui Vi Hao, born in 2003, said: "The coaching staff has corrected some of the team's mistakes in the victory over Laos.
The whole team is currently waiting for tactics from the coaching staff and will follow instructions.
The match against Indonesia is very important because this is a strong opponent. The Vietnamese team must prepare carefully and concentrate more.
In the left wing position, I will have to face the oldest and most experienced player in the Indonesian squad. It will be difficult for me as well as the whole team."
Talking more about his personal goal in the match against Indonesia, the B.Binh Duong player said: “If I get to play, I will try to play and contribute to the team. I want to score to help the team win.”
The Indonesian team will arrive in Hanoi on the afternoon of December 13. After that, coach Shin Tae Yong and his team will immediately move to Phu Tho to prepare for the match against Vietnam on December 15.
The ASEAN Cup will take place from December 8, 2024 , with the final match taking place on January 5, 2025. The tournament will feature 10 teams from Southeast Asia.
Group A includes: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Timor Leste. Group B includes: Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Laos. The Vietnamese team will meet Laos (December 9), Indonesia (December 15), Philippines (December 18), Myanmar (December 21).
In the group stage, the teams compete in a round robin, each team playing 2 home matches and 2 away matches. At the end of the group stage, the 2 teams finishing first and second in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals and final are played over two home and away legs. In the semi-finals, the away goals rule applies.
At the ASEAN Cup 2024, the goal of the Vietnamese team is to reach the final. The Vietnamese team will face strong competition from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Previously at the ASEAN Cup 2022, Vietnam accepted the runner-up position after losing to Thailand in the final match.
