The health of more than 120 workers hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning in Hai Phong is gradually stabilizing.

As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, at noon on June 27, more than 120 workers of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company in Ngo Hung village, An Hong commune, An Duong district (Hai Phong city) showed symptoms of abdominal pain, rash, red face... after lunch and were taken to local medical facilities for treatment.

The lunch menu includes the following dishes: braised chicken, peanuts with oil, braised sea fish, grilled pork with betel leaves, boiled squash, spinach soup, watermelon, and rice.

As of 4:00 p.m. on June 27, statistics showed that 127 workers had been transferred to the Vietnam-Czech Republic Friendship Hospital, the International General Hospital, and the An Duong District Medical Center for treatment and health monitoring.

Workers suspected of food poisoning are treated at the Vietnam-Czech Republic Friendship Hospital.

Of which, Viet-Tiep Friendship Hospital received 69 people, International General Hospital received 30 people, An Duong District Medical Center received 28 people.

In addition, at Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company, there are 51 workers with mild symptoms (itching, red face, mild headache...) who are being monitored at the company.

According to the investigation and quick report of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company, most of the workers with the above symptoms had braised sea fish on their menu.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Director of the Hai Phong Department of Health requested leaders of medical units in the city to directly instruct the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Department and related departments to be ready to receive patients, assess and classify cases, and regularly monitor treatment in clinical departments.

Along with that, medical facilities focus on mobilizing good doctors, ensuring enough medicine and emergency equipment, timely handling and treatment of patients; closely monitoring seriously ill patients and patients at risk of worsening, being ready to consult with higher levels or transfer to higher levels when necessary, while paying attention to health care, encouraging patients and their families...

Hai Phong city authorities have stepped in to clarify the cause of the incident.

The Director of the Hai Phong Department of Health also requested leaders of medical facilities to update information on the number of patients suspected of food poisoning at Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company admitted to the hospital, the number of severe, critical, and seriously ill patients, the number of patients who have improved and recovered (discharged from the hospital) and report to the Department of Health...

The Director of the Hai Phong Department of Health also assigned the Food Safety and Hygiene Department to investigate and determine the cause of the incident according to regulations, trace the origin of the food, collect food and disease samples for testing to find the cause, and promptly report the results to the Department of Health.

The leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Health also assigned the Department of Health Inspectorate to strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any) and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
