Currently, there are very few universities nationwide that offer majors in labor protection, so students can study this major at the Trade Union University (Hanoi) and Ton Duc Thang University (Ho Chi Minh City) with 3 admission groups: A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English) and D01 (math, literature, English).

At the Trade Union University, the Occupational Safety and Health major equips students with the necessary and core knowledge of the major in technical drawing and graphics, general mechanics, electronic engineering, factory power supply, measurement engineering, thermal engineering, theoretical mechanics, material strength, automation of production processes, hydrodynamics, water supply and drainage, industrial construction, labor psychology, engineering psychology, chemical technology, environment and development, applied informatics, etc.

As one of the few schools in the Southern region that trains in the field of occupational safety and health, Ton Duc Thang University constantly upgrades and innovates its facilities and trains qualified teaching staff to produce generations of students with sufficient capacity to meet the demands of the labor market.

Studying at this school, students will be trained in a 4-year program with content on safety engineering of lifting and transport equipment, safety of pressure equipment, safety engineering, safety in construction, electrical safety engineering, occupational health, labor hygiene, etc.

Graduates of the university program in occupational safety and health have skills such as: investigation, survey, analysis, evaluation and comprehensive management of occupational safety and health; proposing technological solutions to ensure occupational safety and health during the production process; eliminating dangerous factors causing occupational accidents, incidents in production and toxic factors causing occupational diseases, etc.

In addition to undergraduate programs, training institutions also have joint programs for postgraduate training, short-term training, and vocational internships to foster careers for students at prestigious universities training in labor protection in the world.

Students can also choose to study occupational safety at some colleges. After completing college, students can apply their knowledge and skills to work in supervising and training safety for construction works; supervising and managing safety and environment for factories, training safety at safety centers; consulting safety services for businesses, etc.

Since Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), labor protection has become a profession of special interest. All countries joining the WTO must have a specialized labor protection officer. Enterprises with 200 or more employees must have at least one specialized labor protection officer according to the Labor Law. Therefore, this field of study is very practical with high demand for human resources.

Currently, our country focuses and pays special attention to occupational safety in many different fields. After graduating from university with a major in occupational safety, students have many career opportunities such as: research institutes, state management agencies on occupational safety in provinces and cities; consulting companies on quality management systems according to international standards; construction projects; foreign-invested companies, multinational corporations; state inspectors on occupational safety and hygiene; union occupational safety and hygiene inspection; teaching at universities and colleges that offer this major; occupational safety and hygiene specialists in production and business establishments... The starting salary for this major ranges from 10 to 12 million VND/month.

To study and do well in jobs related to occupational safety, in addition to having sufficient qualities, ethics, law compliance, good health, and diplomatic skills, it requires personnel to understand the materials of occupational safety equipment, have patience and principles to ensure absolute occupational safety; understand all the characteristics of occupational safety equipment, the functions and uses of each type; know the exact procedures of occupational safety work...

In addition, learners need to have a love for the profession as well as a high sense of responsibility in complying with labor safety; protecting the safety of life and health of workers.

Like other majors, students majoring in Occupational Safety and Health need to be able to self-study and learn in the working environment to improve their professional knowledge and skills in professional activities, meeting the requirements of the 4.0 industrial revolution. After graduation, students can continue to study related majors at a higher level to perfect their knowledge and skills, and increase their thinking ability to meet the development needs of themselves and society.

A country with a low rate of labor accidents, healthy workers, without injuries or occupational diseases is the clearest evidence that the country always values ​​people, promotes the labor force and labor. If labor protection is not paid attention to, working conditions are not improved, and labor accidents occur frequently, the reputation of the regime and the reputation of the enterprise will be reduced.
