From June 27 to 30, Vinamilk brought Ông Thọ condensed milk - the company's iconic brand after nearly 50 years of establishment - to participate in the International Fair of Small and Medium Enterprises (CISMEF) in Guangzhou.

The booth attracted many business partners and visitors to learn about and experience drinks made from condensed milk such as Vietnamese milk tea and milk coffee, which are popular among young Chinese people.

As one of the customers at the fair, Ms. Luong Tieu Phuong (Guangzhou) shared that she had known about Ong Tho milk more than two years ago and often used this product because she really liked the taste of the milk. "I often use it to dip bread, mix with coffee, and make milk tea," the customer said. Another customer from Guangzhou city also said that this condensed milk has a flavor that is adjusted to suit the tastes of Chinese consumers, and the price is competitive, so he has a need to sell this product.

Present at the fair, Mr. Ha Hai Nam, leader of a Vinamilk milk distributor in China, said that Ong Tho milk received good feedback from Chinese consumers because this is a typical Southeast Asian product that is currently selling quite well in the market.

Selling Vinamilk products for 5 years, Mr. Nam said that the revenue growth of these products is about 50% per year. Especially, since the beginning of this year, when Covid-19 passed, the store's revenue doubled, with his store consuming about 10 containers of Ong Tho milk per month.

Mr. Liu Yuan, a wholesaler with a system of 50 agents in Guangzhou, said that he imports about 2,000 boxes each month. He expects revenue to increase by 50% in the last 6 months of the year because consumer demand is increasing again after a long period of Covid-19.

In Guangzhou, the product has a variety of distribution channels, mainly in wholesale channels, restaurants, milk tea shops, cafes and is chosen by end consumers as an ingredient to prepare drinks and desserts at home.

Vinamilk said that its products were exported to China in 2020 - a time affected by Covid-19. Currently, Ông Thọ condensed milk is still trusted by partners in the billion-people market and maintains import volume. The product accounts for a large proportion of the company's export portfolio to China, with cumulative revenue of more than 4.1 million USD, an increase of more than 5 times in the pre-pandemic period and 14% during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Mr. Vo Trung Hieu - International Business Director of Vinamilk, there are 2 factors that help Ong Tho condensed milk grow steadily in China. Firstly, Vietnamese dishes and drinks are becoming more and more popular. Secondly, the product has a delicious and characteristic flavor and has maintained its quality over many years, which has created prestige for the product, helping customers love and feel secure in choosing to buy it.

"After Covid-19, realizing that the company's name is still loved by the Chinese people, the products are starting to take root in the market, so this time we come back, we hope that revenue for dairy products will grow in the future," Mr. Hieu shared.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that after three years of Covid-19, this is an opportunity for businesses to reconnect with the Chinese market. This is the number one trading partner in Vietnam, Vietnamese businesses need to pay attention to product quality, connect with each other, along with the role of ministries and branches.

CISMEF Fair has been held annually since 2003. This year, the fair attracted 1,000 small and medium enterprises from 20 countries and territories such as: China, Vietnam, Germany, Greece, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia, Thailand...
