Recently, climate change has become more severe, leading to many extreme weather phenomena such as droughts, floods, heat waves, etc. Regularly following the news and realizing the seriousness of the problem, Ngo Tuan Kiet (20 years old, from Da Nang) wants to contribute his part to reducing waste in the environment.
Small things, big meaning
In addition to maximizing the utility of plastic items, Kiet also learns how to classify packaging, plastic bottles, boxes, nylon bags, etc. to see which ones can be reused. This action is repeated many times by Kiet with perseverance and seriousness, contributing to spreading the message of environmental protection to those around him. Kiet's friends gradually become aware of bringing their own containers and containers when buying food and drinks at restaurants instead of accepting styrofoam boxes and disposable plastic cups like before.
Ngo Yen Nhi actively responds to clothing recycling programs to avoid waste and environmental impact.
Since high school, Ho Nguyen Minh Tue (student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics) has been familiar with environmental protection projects organized by the Youth Union, school and local authorities. Whenever she hears about cleaning and tree planting programs around her living area, Minh Tue always actively contributes. According to Tue, as long as each person is aware of maintaining hygiene, natural landscapes, and not littering..., it will contribute to significantly improving the living environment for the community.
In college, Tue and many of her peers rarely refuse to contribute to campaigns for a green environment and a civilized, clean and beautiful city. This young girl is willing to roll up her sleeves to help clean up waste despite facing many risks. Non-degradable and recyclable waste is collected, gathered and brought to factories by Tue and her friends.
Form a habit of saving
Ngo Yen Nhi (born in 2002, from Dong Nai) has long since stopped favoring fast fashion products after learning about the consequences of the cheap, mass-produced garment industry.
To minimize environmental pollution, Nhi prioritizes choosing brands that prioritize environmental protection. Nhi said she often looks for documents and videos online to better understand the harmful effects of the greenhouse effect and ways to reduce carbon emissions. In addition to using environmentally friendly products and services, Nhi also builds healthy living habits and avoids waste. This is demonstrated by Nhi through forming the habit of saving electricity and water whether at home or in public places. Nhi also cooks her own meals, instead of ordering food from outside, to limit the consumption of plastic utensils...
Minh Tue (left) and Tuan Kiet believe that caring about environmental protection is one of the top responsibilities of young people.
According to Nhi, solving the problem of food waste is also a way to contribute to creating a sustainable lifestyle, protecting the living environment and resources. Nhi enthusiastically participates in the old clothing recycling projects of brands. Although she was once criticized for "pretending" when refusing to accept disposable plastic bags and cups, Nhi is confident in the path she is pursuing. "Young people should not consider green living as a movement, instead, they should experience it, this will help them understand the meaning of a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle" - Nhi expressed.
In recent years, Vietnam has been implementing many mechanisms, strategies, policies and projects to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment. Typically, the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 has added regulations on reducing, reusing, recycling and treating plastic waste; limiting the use of disposable plastic products and hard-to-decompose plastic bags; encouraging the production of environmentally friendly products to replace traditional plastic products. It is very commendable that many young people are no longer indifferent but join hands to build a sustainable and nature-friendly lifestyle. Every small action or widespread campaign contributes to spreading a meaningful message, which is to reduce environmental pollution.
