Through identification, the location of the fire is located at plot 9, sub-area 870, the forest status is mainly mixed forest of wood and bamboo on rocky mountains, poor natural evergreen broadleaf forest on rocky mountains, it is estimated that the volume of vegetation and combustible materials in the forest is quite large, mixed with dry grass and bamboo.
The fire area is a rocky mountain with rugged terrain, steep slopes, and difficult to travel. The location of the fire is in the middle of a natural forest with a total area of over 200 hectares of forest, bordering the three communes of Chieng Pan, Phieng Khoai, Yen Son, Yen Chau district.

Initially, it was determined that about 4 hectares of forest were damaged, and one person participating in fighting the forest fire fell and suffered minor injuries. This is an area with a high risk of fire spreading, especially with the hot, sunny and windy weather.
Mr. Lo The Thi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Chau district, Son La province, said: Immediately after receiving the news from the people, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Chau district directly directed the Steering Committee for Forest Protection and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting of the district to coordinate with the People's Committee of Chieng Pan commune to hold a meeting at night, assess the weather situation, the current state of the forest and mobilize forces to immediately implement measures to fight forest fires in the area.
Yen Chau district mobilized local forces in the district and 5 communes with more than 800 people, divided into 4 routes to participate in fire fighting. Of which, route 1 started from the People's Committee of Chieng Pan commune towards Boong Xanh village. Route 2 started towards Phieng Khoai commune.

Other forest fire fighting routes depart from Yen Son commune, Chieng Khoi commune, Yen Chau town to participate in fire fighting in border areas.
By around 6am on March 28, the fire was basically under control. Firefighters assigned teams to guard the embers, ensuring the fire was completely extinguished and did not flare up again.
Preliminary damage determined at the scene of the forest fire affected area is about 4ha, mainly in the following states: poor evergreen broadleaf natural forest, rocky mountains, areas with regenerated trees, mainly dry grass and bamboo.
Currently, the People's Committee of Yen Chau district has assigned the Yen Chau-Mai Son Regional Police Team to coordinate with the Commune Police and the District Forest Protection Department to investigate and verify the cause of the forest fire.

The district also assigned the Forest Protection Department to coordinate with the People's Committee of Chieng Pan commune to determine the area damaged by forest fires and advise on post-fire recovery plans.
The Standing Committee of Yen Chau District Party Committee also convened a meeting to review experience in forest fire prevention, fighting and rescue work for the incident that just occurred and disseminated to the Standing Committees of the Party Committees of communes and towns, with the spirit of not letting an incident like the one in Chieng Pan commune happen again, attaching the responsibility of the Party Committees in charge to the communes and towns in forest fire prevention, fighting and rescue work in the district.
