Regarding specialized exams, the direction of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City is to replace specialized subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography with specialized subjects: Natural Sciences, History - Geography, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary school level.

In early August, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province was the first locality to approve the plan to enroll students in grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools from the 2025-2026 school year. Quang Nam will organize exams in 3 subjects: Literature, Math, English - combined with considering junior high school transcripts for enrollment, after 10 years of only considering enrollment.
