Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Principal of the School of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University - UIT) - said that the information systems department has officially joined The IS:link Network (Information Systems Student Exchange Network).
"By joining IS:link, students majoring in information systems at the school have the opportunity to study abroad without having to pay tuition fees," Mr. Khang added.
The first school in Vietnam to join IS:link
On March 1, IS:link member information officially updated a new member, UIT. This is the first school to join this organization.
According to Dr. Cao Thi Nhan - Head of the UIT Information Systems Department, the program representative, the department has officially joined The IS:link Network at the suggestion of Professor Ulrich Frank - founder and director of IS:link (University Duisburg - Essen, Germany) - an expert in evaluating the ASIIN information systems training program.
"During the evaluation of the UIT Information Systems Department's training program according to ASIIN standards in November 2023, Professor Ulrich was very impressed with the school and the students of the department, so he proposed signing this agreement. Professor Ulrich Frank also assisted in guiding the procedures to complete the signing," said Ms. Nhan.
To join IS:link, schools must meet the following requirements and values: award degrees in information systems; teach classes that specialize in information systems; offer at least six information systems courses per semester and at least four in English; and have a designated IS:link contact person or unit.
Also supports IS:link registration during exchange. Allows student and staff to transfer to any member of the network.
Every member of IS:link must be listed and acknowledged on the anabin list, a German database for university quality assurance.

Students can study for free in 20 countries
Also according to Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, the general commitment in IS: link is that students do not have to pay tuition. "UIT information systems students who are selected to study at another school in IS: link will not have to pay tuition and vice versa, our school also does not collect tuition from international students," said Mr. Khang.
Accordingly, students can go to countries in the list of schools in IS:link. There are currently about 20 schools in many countries around the world such as: Germany, Finland, USA, France, Greece, India, Israel, Colombia, Netherlands, Malaysia, Austria, Switzerland, Korea, Spain...
According to the agreement: each semester has 5 undergraduate students, 5 graduate students, 2 doctoral students.
Students study abroad for 1 semester and do not have to pay tuition. The school's goal is to send 10 undergraduate students and 8 graduate students to study abroad each year and receive 5-10 international students to study at UIT.
The review process follows a 5-step process and general guidelines, with specific conditions in the IS system:link.
Dr. Cao Thi Nhan believes that this is a great opportunity for the school to transfer students, send students to study abroad, and receive international students to UIT. However, there are still many things to do, such as consulting, approval conditions, proposals for recognition of foreign subjects for students, or conditions to support international students coming to UIT.
"The school hopes to select excellent students to study, creating a good impression of UIT, then it will be easier to send students in the next batch. And there are international students coming to study at UIT," said Ms. Nhan.
