The new information security drill support platform has just been launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications. This is the 5th digital platform on ensuring network information security provided free of charge to agencies, organizations and businesses.
The launching ceremony of the information security drill support platform took place on November 21 within the framework of the plenary session of the Vietnam Information Security Day 2024 workshop on the theme "Information security for data infrastructure and national digital platform".
Regular and continuous use of information security support platforms provided by the Ministry of Information and Communications is one of the requirements of the Prime Minister for ministries, branches and localities in Directive 09 on compliance with legal regulations and strengthening information system security at all levels.
With the launch of the platform to support information security drills, the Ministry of Information and Communications has so far provided 5 digital platforms to help ministries, branches and localities in implementing network information security work.
Four digital platforms were put into operation in the previous phase, including: Information system security management platform at all levels; incident response and coordination support platform; digital investigation support platform; and information security risk management, detection, and early warning platform.
Sharing the reason for establishing and providing a platform to support real-life information security drills, the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that since the end of 2021, Vietnam has initiated the process of converting from pre-existing scenario drills to real-life combat on real systems in operation.
This change is intended to enable incident response teams at agencies and organizations to practice their ability to handle cyber attacks on real systems, bringing all processes, technology and people into the exercise.
According to statistics, in 2023 alone, nearly 100 combat exercises were organized, both on a national scale and individual exercises at ministries, branches, localities, and enterprises.
As a result, nearly 1,500 security vulnerabilities were discovered, including more than 900 critical and high-severity errors, attracting the participation of about 7,000 experts. At the same time, the professional skills of technical staff and defense capacity of agencies and organizations were improved.
However, large gaps in the effectiveness of information security drills between levels still exist, while many agencies face limitations in human resources, tools, funding and capacity to ensure information security.
To address the above challenges, the Department of Information Security has deployed a platform to support information security drills, providing free knowledge and information resources necessary to support drill activities.
According to the representative of the Department of Information Security, the information security drill support platform not only helps manage and organize drill activities professionally, but also digitizes processes, standardizes techniques, and connects experts with information security organizations.
“With the newly launched digital platform, the Department of Information Security aims to improve the quality and effectively coordinate cyber security drills nationwide,” said a representative of the Department of Information Security.
In addition to VietNamNet reporters, a representative of the Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center - VNCERT/CC said that in the near future, the Department of Information Security will guide the use of the platform to support information security drills for ministries, branches, localities, organizations and businesses in the network to respond to network information security incidents.
2024 is the 17th year that the Vietnam Information Security Day conference and exhibition is hosted by the Vietnam Information Security Association. In addition to the plenary session on the topic "Information security for data infrastructure and national digital platform", the Vietnam Information Security Day 2024 event also has 1 panel discussion and 3 specialized workshops. Topics discussed at the seminar and thematic sessions include: Preventing data loss and online fraud; applying AI to ensure information security in key economic sectors; protecting data to serve digital economic development; promoting cooperation to protect children in the online environment. |
