Lotus Hoa Lu Ninh Binh has a certified trademark

On the morning of August 3, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the People's Committee of Hoa Lu district and the European-American Research and Technology Transfer Center to organize a conference to announce the certification mark "Hoa Lu Lotus - Ninh Binh" for products made from lotus plants in Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province.

Due to the characteristics of Hoa Lu district having low-lying terrain, about 3,000 hectares of rice land, many areas of land interspersed with the foot of mountains, flooded land, some households are no longer interested in rice. Therefore, the district has a policy of converting areas that are difficult to grow rice to grow new varieties of lotus, combined with fish farming, associated with the development of eco-tourism, both increasing the value per unit of cultivation and increasing income from tourism services.

Thanks to that, from 2019 to now, Hoa Lu district has many models of growing new varieties of lotus, reaching nearly 50 hectares, generating an income of about 300 million VND/ha, 5 to 6 times higher than growing rice. Many products from lotus are popular with tourists such as: lotus tea, lotus jam, lotus tea, lotus leaves, lotus roots..., along with revenue from tourism and services related to lotus accounting for a large proportion.

It is time for lotus products to be identified, registered for trademarks, and protected for product brands, helping to preserve and promote the reputation and quality of products, and preventing acts of exploiting reputation to sell poor quality products that damage reputation. After a period of construction, the brand "Hoa Lu Lotus - Ninh Binh" has been recognized by the Intellectual Property Office.

From now on, "Hoa Lu Lotus - Ninh Binh" is labeled as a product with a reputation and quality associated with the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Especially, Ninh Binh province is a locality that annually welcomes a large number of tourists, so having agricultural products associated with tourism is very necessary.

Hoa Lu District People's Committee, as the owner and organization managing the trademark, needs to regularly urge and inspect the implementation of regulations on management and use of stamps and labels according to regulations; have policies to care for and support businesses and production households as well as expand the market to promote the value of protected trademarks.

Authorities and organizations at all levels in Hoa Lu district continue to pay attention to promoting information, propaganda, and raising people's awareness of the value of certified trademarks of lotus products, thereby mobilizing households and cooperatives producing and trading lotus products to register to use product trademarks that ensure compliance with regulations.
