Accordingly, the National Press Awards are held annually nationwide. The host agency is the Vietnam Journalists Association. The coordinating agency is the Ministry of Information and Communications, inviting the Central Propaganda Department to participate.
The purpose and requirements of the Award are to select and award works and press products that are of high quality in terms of ideology, politics and culture; have attractive content and form of expression, achieve high social effectiveness, and make positive contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Through the National Press Awards, we contribute to encouraging and promoting the emulation movement of creative labor among journalists nationwide; discovering, nurturing and honoring journalistic talents in society.
According to Decision No. 50, the structure of the National Press Awards will add 02 new Awards, namely the Multimedia Press Award and the Creative Press Award.

Regarding the Multimedia Journalism Award, there is 1 award group: Infographic, Video clips, Podcast, Multimedia news package, Data journalism products, Interactive journalism products,...
Specifically, the National Press Awards Council will award prizes to journalistic works and products that use multimedia data and apply production processes, techniques, and digital media technology in the process of content creation and production organization; have independent formats such as: Infographics, Video clips, Podcasts, Multimedia news packages, Data journalism products, interactive journalism products, etc.
From there, it will encourage works and press products to participate in the award to go beyond the factor of press type, creating multi-form or multi-platform press works and products. For example: Podcasts can be published on radio, on electronic newspapers or television programs, in the form of Vodcast (Video Podcasst). Therefore, increasing the opportunity for all authors and press agencies to participate without being limited by type and genre.
The award is in line with the trend and practice of developing professional, humane, and modern journalism; encourages journalistic works that are suitable to the tastes of the digital press public; creates motivation for the development of multi-platform, multimedia journalism, data journalism, and technology application in media journalism; promotes technology application and digital transformation of journalism.
Regarding the Creative Journalism Awards, there is one group of awards: Awards for Creative Journalism Works, Products, and Programs. Specifically, the Organizing Committee awards awards to highly creative journalism works, products, and programs that go beyond traditional journalism forms.
Contest entries are not considered according to type or genre, but meet the requirements of modern journalism, encouraging multi-form, multi-platform, multimedia, data journalism, automated journalism, etc.
The Creative Journalism Award will promote increased participation opportunities for all authors and press agencies without being limited by type and genre.
At the same time, encourage and promote innovation in professional, humane, and modern journalism; create momentum for the development of multi-platform, multimedia journalism, data journalism, and technology application in media journalism; promote technology application and digital transformation of journalism.
In addition, in the category of Spoken Newspaper (Radio), in addition to keeping the two award groups, next year's awards will be rearranged to be more streamlined and reasonable. The category of Documentary Reportage will be added and Memoirs will be removed because, according to the Council, in reality, there are very few works in the genre of radio memoirs.
The decision also clearly states the addition of the number of people in the group of authors performing works of Visual Journalism, Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism. Accordingly, the maximum number of authors performing works and press products is 10 people for one work, product of Visual Journalism, Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism.
At the same time, the secret ballot method for the Special Prize and the Special Prize will be changed. For the Special Prize, if among the A Prizes there is a work worthy of winning the Special Prize, the Final Judging Council will discuss and decide to consider implementing it through secret ballot. The work winning the Special Prize must have more than half (over 50%) of the votes of the members of the Final Judging Council.
At the Thematic Award, depending on the actual situation each year, the Final Jury discusses and decides on a secret ballot to select groups of works and specialized press products from among the works and products that make it to the final round. Thematic Award requires a vote that is more than half (over 50%) of the votes of the members of the Final Jury.
Thus, the structure of the Tournament has the following amendments: The 2019 Regulations include: 5 types of tournaments with 11 groups of tournaments. The 2024 Regulations include 7 types of tournaments with 13 groups of tournaments; In which: Maintain the 11 groups of tournaments of the 2019 Regulations, add 2 new types of tournaments.
