School culture (SC) is a part of national and ethnic culture; it is a particularly important field that creates conditions and environment to realize the motto "learning to become human" of the Education sector.
The cooperation of schools, families and the whole society is an inseparable key factor in building a standard cultural foundation, contributing to improving the quality of education and building beautiful personalities.
Identify the shortcomings
A clip of a group of primary school students smoking in the school grounds in An Giang province has stirred up public opinion in the past few days about the current situation related to VHHĐ. Some people criticized the school for not strictly managing the students; others said that the responsibility of educating children cannot be placed entirely on the teachers; others looked at the issue more fully: there needs to be accompaniment in raising children who are not only learning to read but also learning to be human from a young age!
Looking at Bac Lieu, the situation of students secretly smoking (mostly electronic cigarettes) also quietly "occurs" in some schools, teachers discover and report to parents through Zalo groups connecting the school (or class) with the students' parents. Or sometimes, violent incidents between classmates in the class, between this group and that group still cause headaches for both teachers and parents... All of these are worrying realities in the current construction of a civilized society.
Speaking at the conference summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution 33 of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) on "Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development", a representative of the Bac Lieu Education sector stated that the building of Vietnamese culture and people in the province in recent years has had many positive changes; besides, he also boldly analyzed many existing shortcomings. That is the current reality that there are still some incidents of teachers and students having deviant behaviors in behavior and communication, affecting the educational environment. The most worrying thing is that the situation of school violence (BLHD) is still complicated, and the phenomenon of students fighting, indifference, apathy, not seeing the right thing but the security guards, seeing wrong things, negativity but not daring to fight, stop...
The causes of this situation come from many sides: students are exposed to many streams of information from the Internet and social networks without selectively absorbing them, leading to deviations in lifestyle and behavior; teachers are under pressure with achievements and professional tasks. Besides, in some localities, especially at the grassroots level, the work of building culture in general and VHHĐ in particular has not received regular attention; the coordination between school - family - society is not close...

Teach people before teaching letters
“I want all my students to study hard, have good awareness, good lifestyle, have parents at home, and teachers to love and teach them at school. I also love my students like my own children, when I see my children being disobedient, or fighting, I am also sad and heartbroken. Sometimes when I go home and think about the children, I can't sleep, always looking for ways to help them get along and love each other like a family" - that is the confession of a junior high school teacher in Bac Lieu City when worrying about the "children" at his school. Disagreements leading to fights, although minor, if not stopped promptly, will lead to BLHĐ - that worry increases the burden in the mission of "cultivating people" of teachers.
Students go to school not only to learn words but also to learn how to be human first, as the saying goes, "first learn manners, then learn knowledge", because they will be the generation that will master the future of the country. Many teachers confided that, in the past, students were very afraid of teachers, hearing scolding would make them "turn pale", let alone any sanctions; but now, many students are not even afraid of having their conduct lowered or being suspended from school; when teachers remind them, "ask" parents for cooperation, many people are not interested because they think that since their children are in school, the responsibility lies with the teachers. Therefore, BLHĐ, early love at school age, impolite speech, smoking, forming cliques to fight in school... are negative aspects that exist, causing headaches not only for the education sector but also for the whole society!
In Resolution 33 on “Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development”, the building of a civilized culture has been mentioned with many in-depth contents. The Ministry of Education and Training has also issued many decisions, plans, and related projects, promulgating regulations and codes of conduct in schools. The Department of Education and Training has concretized many solutions such as: emulating “Building friendly schools, active students”, “Building happy schools”; implementing the campaign “Democracy - Discipline - Love - Responsibility”, “Each teacher is a model of morality, self-study and creativity”... All of these show the special efforts and attention of the Party, the State, and the education sector to the building of a civilized culture.
However, that is not enough. How to build a learning environment, cultural activities, democracy, and creativity for students; how to make "every day at school a happy day" ... requires more family support in combining teaching people and teaching letters. Because VHHĐ is formed in the process of interaction between teachers - students and families (because home is the first school for children). Parents should accompany teachers to educate children to become good people right in their own homes, to together create a generation of students who are studious, hard-working, obedient, polite, loving, responsible to the country, community, family and themselves.
Maximizing the effectiveness of coordination between school - family - society will create a healthy cultural ecosystem, building beautiful personalities for the future buds of the country.
