On the afternoon of January 16, the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang City held a summary of activities in 2023 and deployed directions and tasks for 2024. In 2023, the revenue of the information and communications industry is estimated at 36,571 billion VND. In 2024, the information and communications industry strives for an 8.9% increase in revenue compared to 2023.
In 2023, the revenue of the IT industry is estimated to reach 36,571 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang City, said that in 2023, the revenue of the information and communications industry is estimated at 36,571 billion VND, an increase of 8.1% compared to 2022. Software export turnover reached 147.8 million USD, reaching 101.25% of the plan, an increase of 12% compared to 2022. The scale of added value of the whole industry at current prices in 2023 is estimated at 9,841 billion VND, an increase of more than 768 billion VND compared to 2022, accounting for 7.33% of the GRDP structure of the whole economy.
Up to now, Da Nang has basic databases and about 100 specialized data shared through LGSP; 400 IoT monitoring devices providing real-time data; deploying the construction of DanangChain Platform...
In particular, the digital administrative procedure results database not only helps people and businesses reuse without having to submit paper copies, but also helps state agencies eliminate/reduce about 180 re-issued administrative procedures due to damage, loss, etc.
Not only that, this year, Da Nang invested in and put into operation the Intelligent Operation Monitoring Center (IOC, phase 1). The locality proactively coordinated with central ministries and branches to promptly resolve problems arising during the process of putting into operation Software Park No. 2.
Da Nang organized a workshop and participated in the President's working delegation to promote investment with Synopsys; Intel, Nvida; Marvell; ITSJ-G, Qorvo Corporations in SanJoe (USA) on training in developing microchips and artificial intelligence.
Da Nang has won prestigious domestic and international awards for smart cities and digital transformation: Seoul Smart City Prize 2023 for the Human-Centricity category; Vietnam Smart City Award 2023...
However, according to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, projects related to smart cities are slow to deploy and lack synchronization, so they have not been effective. The participation of some agencies in implementing digital transformation is still not active, especially in creating and sharing data.
Digital infrastructure development has yet to meet the requirement of “infrastructure one step ahead” to serve the construction of smart cities, digital transformation and socio-economic development of the city. The press sector is developing rapidly, but many aspects of state management have not kept up, especially press development on digital platforms. State management in cyberspace faces many difficulties for cross-border platforms.
Continue digital transformation, improve the "quality" of life
In 2024, the theme of the IT industry is "Universalizing digital infrastructure, creating digital applications to develop the digital economy - New driving force for economic growth and labor productivity". The whole industry strives for an 8.9% increase in revenue compared to 2023. Software export revenue reaches 161.8 million USD.
At the conference, Mr. Ta Tu Binh, Vice Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, said that over the past year, the Information and Communications sector has coordinated with businesses to organize many activities to help people understand and operate some digital transformation applications. The participation of many components is a very important foundation to help localities in Da Nang achieve and exceed the tasks set out in 2024. Therefore, departments, technology businesses and press agencies need to coordinate closely to help messages and policies spread more strongly and widely.
According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Thuong, Director of Viettel Da Nang, in the coming time, Da Nang needs to create conditions for network operators to install special stations for tourism and rescue on Son Tra Mountain. In addition, the Department of Information and Communications should consider connecting and creating conditions for Viettel and digital technology enterprises to be able to advise on models of Project 06 to related units. In addition, in the campaign to convert 2G technology to 4G, the unit needs to consider strong communication, calling on network operators and the business community to have subsidy policies for special cases such as poor households.
