The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Decision No. 914/QD-BCT on the application of temporary anti-dumping tax on some galvanized steel products originating from China and South Korea.

Báo Lào CaiBáo Lào Cai03/04/2025

Accordingly, the highest temporary anti-dumping tax rate applied is 37.13% for goods originating from China and 15.67% for goods originating from South Korea.

During the investigation of the case, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with relevant units to carefully review and assess the impact of dumping of imported goods on the activities of domestic manufacturing industries and the level of dumping by manufacturing and exporting enterprises of China and Korea.

Customs data shows that, as of the end of March 2024, the volume of imported goods under investigation in 12 months reached 454 thousand tons, an increase of 91% over the same period to March 2023.

Even after the Ministry of Industry and Trade decided to initiate this case, the import volume of galvanized steel from China and South Korea still increased significantly, in just the last 9 months of 2024, the import volume of investigated goods was approximately 382 thousand tons (up 20% over the same period). Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has considered applying temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent the rapid increase in galvanized steel imports that could cause serious damage to the domestic manufacturing industry in the coming time.

According to the provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to conduct on-site investigations of foreign export manufacturing enterprises and import enterprises to draw final conclusions on this case.
