The scientific name of the Moon Bear is Ursus thibetanus, a species belonging to group IB - a group of endangered, rare wild animals, strictly prohibited from exploitation and use.
It is known that these two bears were discovered by Mr. Ly A Gio in Huoi Ban village, Muong Nhe commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province while grazing cattle in an area near the local protective forest. These are two male bears, about 2 months old, weighing 2.5 kg and 2.7 kg.
After discovering the two bears, Mr. Ly A Gio reported to the local authorities and voluntarily submitted an application to donate the two bears to Hoang Lien Tourism and Wildlife Conservation Center for scientific care, restoration of the species' natural habits, and release into the natural environment.

People donating animals is important in preserving rare animals and developing biological resources and re-introducing herds.
It is known that since the beginning of the year, Hoang Lien Tourism and Conservation Center has received 12 cases with 12 individuals of 5 species, reaching 34% of the plan assigned in 2025; the re-release rate is 1/2 of the cases (reaching 50%).
