Accompanying students to conquer employers

More than 30 students directly completed their CVs and practiced answering interviews under the guidance of leading recruitment experts in the training session "CV writing and interview skills" last March.

The activity is within the framework of the Student Development Initiative (DynaGen Initiative) jointly organized by the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Like many first and second year students, Hai Yen - a first year student of the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) has never applied for jobs at any business or organization. Yen and her friends encountered many difficulties due to lack of practical experience.

“I have never been to an interview before so I don’t know how to present myself. I also don’t know what employers really care about to create an impressive CV,” Hai Yen shared.

This fact is also recognized by experts in the field of human resources. Ms. Dinh Thi Hue, senior human resources recruitment consultant at Navigos Search commented: “Currently, most of the CVs of students have met the basic criteria. However, to stand out and make an impression, they still do not know how to express themselves through presentation and information selection.”

As soon as she heard about the training course on “CV writing and interview skills” held at the school, Hai Yen quickly registered to attend because Yen understood that equipping herself with recruitment-related skills from the first years of university is very important to shape her application mindset early. This will help her have a stepping stone in the increasingly competitive labor market.

Understanding the challenges that students like Yen are facing in the application process, the DynaGen Initiative, Course 5 of the For Vietnamese Stature Fund, has collaborated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to organize an intensive training session on CV writing and interview skills. The training session not only aims to provide knowledge, but also creates a space for practice and interaction so that students can practice their skills, improve their confidence, and be ready to enter the labor market.

Ms. Do Thu Huong, Human Resources Director of Coc Coc and Ms. Dinh Thi Hue, senior human resources recruitment consultant at Navigos Search, directly conducted the training course. This is also the 6th year that Navigos Search has accompanied DynaGen Initiative by sending experts to support free soft skills training courses for students.

At the training session, more than 30 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were guided from how to format and present a professional CV, choose information appropriate for each job application to factors that are often forgotten but make a difference such as how to effectively describe a job, prepare style, dress, and mentality when entering an interview.

“Today, for the first time, I understood in detail how to present information logically in a CV so that it stands out and is suitable for each position applied for, instead of using a common template for all applications,” Hai Yen shared.

In addition, students will also explore an overview of the labor market trends in 2025, such as recruitment needs of different industries, skills sought by employers, etc. This is important information to help students orient their career choices to suit their personal abilities and the actual needs of society.

In particular, not simply a session providing knowledge through theory, you will also participate in activities such as: Editing CV with experts, practicing mock interviews and receiving personalized feedback from two experienced speakers. This creates an interview simulation environment close to the reality of recruitment, something that most students attending the training session have not had the opportunity to experience before.

Gia Phu, a first-year student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said: “I was most impressed with the mock interview. When I saw my friends talking directly to the speaker, I realized the real tension of an interview. From there, I learned a lot about how to handle questions, stay calm and answer coherently.”

If schools play a fundamental role in providing professional knowledge, then practical training sessions like the above are the bridge for students to develop soft skills - a factor that is increasingly becoming a "mandatory ticket" when entering the labor market.

“Theory only plays a small part. What you lack is experience. Therefore, you need to interact and practice as much as possible,” Ms. Do Thu Huong, Human Resources Director at Coc Coc emphasized.

In addition to the training course on CV writing and interview skills, DynaGen Initiative course 5 also accompanied the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Diplomatic Academy to carry out many other diverse activities such as seminars, training on soft skills such as debate, negotiation, writing project proposals, etc.; series of simulation conferences of the United Nations, ASEAN and career orientation programs for students not only of the two schools but also for students throughout Hanoi.

“DynaGen wishes to become a reliable companion of students on their journey to adulthood,” shared Ms. Tran Hong Diep, Director of the Fund for Vietnamese Stature.

“In a constantly changing society, helping young people prepare early in terms of knowledge, skills and thinking is our way of contributing to building a solid foundation for their future career and sustainable development,” Ms. Tran Hong Diep added.

DynaGen Initiative is a student development initiative implemented by the For Vietnamese Stature Fund and Education & Times Newspaper (Ministry of Education and Training) since 2019, with the support of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank and TH Group. The program aims to realize the vision and mission of the units, contributing to the development of the talents of the young generation and supporting students to establish themselves and start a career.
