The Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching, the whole country is bustling with preparations for the important festival season of the year. In that atmosphere, OCOP product producers in the Central region are also entering the peak period, accelerating production to meet consumer demand during this time.

"Race" to serve Tet

Not only focusing on improving quality, they also pay attention to improving designs and innovating consumption channels to bring consumers the best products during the traditional Tet holiday... Many production facilities and cooperatives have received orders early, increased promotion, and made continuous efforts to expand production and business.

At the Ba Lieu Me sesame crackers production facility in Cam Le District (Da Nang City), the working atmosphere has become busy for many weeks. During Tet, the number of orders skyrocketed, the facility had to hire more workers and increase production shifts to meet the delivery schedule. Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, Director of the facility, said: “This year, the number of Tet orders came earlier than every year and the quantity was also larger. About a month ago, we received orders and started production to deliver to customers on time. Currently, the number of orders is at its peak. To ensure progress, we had to encourage workers to work overtime. It is expected that this Tet holiday, the facility will produce from 300 to 500 thousand packages of crackers, an increase of about 30% compared to the same period last year and double that of normal days.”

In Quang Nam, OCOP production facilities are also rushing to complete products to serve the Tet market. At Binh Minh Seafood Production and Trading Cooperative, Binh Minh Commune, Thang Binh District, the working atmosphere is also very urgent. To ensure timely supply, the Cooperative has mobilized all human resources to decant fish sauce, bottle, label and transport products to agents in and outside the province. In addition to traditional fish sauce products, the Cooperative also provides a variety of other products such as anchovy fish sauce, squid fish sauce, fermented fish sauce, shrimp paste, etc. Mr. Do Minh Vuong, Chairman of the Cooperative shared: "Customers today increasingly prefer traditional products, especially those that have been certified OCOP because they ensure food safety and are good for health."

In addition to focusing on producing individual products, many establishments also offer unique Tet gift baskets to meet the gift-giving needs. At Do 37 Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, Ngu Hanh Son District (Da Nang City), there are Tet gift baskets with prices ranging from 250,000 VND to several million VND/basket, providing customers with diverse options and suitable for gift-giving needs during this year's Tet holiday.

Improve quality and design

After 7 years of implementing the OCOP Program (2018 - 2024), the whole Quang Nam province has had 479 products of 376 entities recognized as meeting OCOP standards. Of these, 419 products achieved 3 stars, 60 products achieved 4 stars and 5 products were submitted to the Central Government for national 5-star rating. These products include Saphraton health protection food (Nam Tra My), Tra My cinnamon essential oil (Bac Tra My), Tien Phuoc pepper (Tien Phuoc), MITRI TEA - Ngoc Linh ginseng tea (Phu Ninh) and Quy Thu grilled coconut cake (Que Son).

According to Mr. Tran Van Noa, Head of the Quang Nam Rural Development Department, the OCOP program has helped local specialty products affirm their brands and increasingly expand their markets. Mr. Noa added: “Many OCOP products are not only of good quality but also beautifully designed, easily penetrating supermarket chains and clean food stores. This not only contributes to the development of the rural economy but also aims for export.”

In Da Nang, production facilities such as Mrs. Lieu Me sesame crackers, Tuy Loan rice paper, My Phuong grilled coconut cakes, etc. have also actively improved their designs to suit the tastes and atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. Mr. Nguyen Kim Dung, Vice Chairman of the City Farmers' Association, said: "We always support people in borrowing capital, connecting to consumer markets and instructing them on how to use online sales platforms. Traditional confectionery production facilities have recorded a sharp increase in orders this year."

A typical example is My Phuong Food Co., Ltd., Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District (Da Nang City). At the end of the year, the company launched a special version of baked coconut cake with brightly designed packaging, imbued with the Tet atmosphere. Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi, Director of the company shared: “We always research and develop new products to meet market demand. This year's Tet version is not only welcomed by the domestic market but also ordered by many businesses as gifts for partners”.

OCOP product manufacturing establishments in the Central region have been proactively focusing on developing both the form and quality of Tet products according to consumer tastes, actively contributing to the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" and promoting local economic development.
