Tuyen Quang approves project to preserve and restore the National Assembly Standing Committee relic site

NDO - The People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province has just approved the project to preserve and restore the National Assembly Standing Committee relic site in Trung Yen commune, Son Duong district, with a total investment of 75 billion VND, invested by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The project will renovate the residence, office and safe bunker of President Ton Duc Thang; build a new Memorial House of President Ton Duc Thang; renovate the exhibition and reception house; embellish the overall stele house of the relic site; build a flagpole, a system of stele and symbols to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese National Assembly. Investing in preserving and embellishing the relic site contributes to preserving and promoting historical values, increasing the solemnity and worthy position of the relic in the flow of national history.

The relic site has a total area of ​​over 2,000m². This was the residence and workplace of the National Assembly Standing Committee and President Ton Duc Thang from the end of 1952 to the end of 1954, associated with the formation and development of the Vietnamese National Assembly, marking the arduous working days and glorious achievements of the cadres and staff of the National Assembly Standing Committee in the long-term resistance war against the French colonialists.

Here, in February 1953, comrade Ton Duc Thang chaired the joint conference between the National Assembly Standing Committee and the expanded National Lien Viet Committee; also here, comrade Ton Duc Thang drafted the content and chaired the meeting of the National Assembly Delegates, term I, third session at Thac Dang, Lap Binh village, Binh Yen commune, Son Duong district from December 1 to 4, 1953 to discuss land reform.

In 2000, the Relic Site was ranked as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). Currently, the Relic Site's memorial house is preserving 66 artifacts, 255 documentary photos and many other scientific documents recreating the formation and development process of the Vietnamese National Assembly from 1945 to the present. With its great historical value, the Relic Site is a red address for educating the younger generation about traditions.
