Accordingly, the time to apply enhanced measures is from Saturday, August 31 to the end of Tuesday, September 3.
During this time, regional airport authorities, Vietnam Airports Corporation, airlines... must report on aviation security work every day from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
According to regulations, level 1 security control will include a number of measures such as: Increasing the number of aviation security personnel and guards on duty in restricted areas; checking people with handheld metal detectors and visually checking 7% of people, objects and vehicles entering restricted areas of the airport.
At the same time, increase interviews and verification of identification documents when passengers check in and do security checks; randomly visually check 15% of passengers who have passed through the gate without an alarm; check 15% of carry-on and checked baggage through X-ray machines without any suspicious images...
A representative of the Southern Airport Authority in Can Tho said that measures have been deployed to units to ensure security and safety for incoming/outgoing flights. In particular, in the coming days, Can Tho airport will receive a number of night flights (after 9:00 p.m.) on August 27 and 29.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam approved the extension of operating hours at Can Tho airport. Specifically, Can Tho airport will have 4 more operating hours per day, from 5:00 to 23:59 (local time) instead of operating from 6:00 to 21:00 every day as before. The time starts from July 13 to September 4 this year.
The additional operating hours are intended to encourage and support airlines to increase operating frequency and open more routes to/from Can Tho, especially international flights.
More security measures
To ensure security and safety for incoming/outgoing flights, previously, the representative of the Southern Airport Authority in Can Tho also sent an official dispatch to the City Party Committee, People's Committee and Can Tho City Police regarding the implementation of procedures to request security control cards and permits when entering/exiting Can Tho International Airport.

This procedure is intended to ensure that people and vehicles under the management of Party and State agencies in Can Tho City can pick up/drop off at the airport conveniently, thoughtfully, and in accordance with regulations.
Therefore, this unit requests the City Party Committee, People's Committee, and Can Tho City Police to direct and deploy affiliated agencies and units when performing the task of welcoming/seeing off at the airport to carry out procedures to apply for security control cards for people when entering/exiting restricted areas.
For vehicles requiring security control permits when entering and exiting restricted areas of the airport in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety.
Recently, Can Tho airport has welcomed many delegations of high-ranking leaders and ministries and branches to work not only in Can Tho but also in the Mekong Delta region, including many unscheduled flights.
Ensuring absolute security and safety for these flights is especially necessary.
An officer representing the Southern Airport Authority in Can Tho said that the procedures for requesting security control cards and permits when entering/exiting the airport are carried out very quickly by the units, within only 60 minutes, or even faster.
