Tan Cang Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port has just welcomed the OOCL Bauhinia ship of COSCO/OOCL shipping line, with a capacity of 166,000 tons.
On March 13, the OOCL Bauhinia ship of COSCO/OOCL shipping line on PVCS service route, with a capacity of 166,000 tons, docked at Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai port (TCTT) for the first time.
Leaders of TCTT Port and shipping line performed the welcoming ceremony for OOCL Bauhinia.
This is a milestone marking the ability to receive the largest tonnage ships ever of TCTT in particular and the entire deep-water port system of Saigon Newport Corporation in general.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Hong Hung, Director of TCTT Port, said that receiving the OOCL Bauhinia is a clear demonstration of the port's outstanding operational capacity, opening up opportunities for extensive cooperation with major shipping lines.
The event of welcoming a 166,000-ton (deadweight tonnage) ship marks the ability to meet the increasing requirements for ship size and cargo transportation needs, helping TCTT connect Vietnam with global markets, from Asia to 5 continents.
Mr. Van Ha, Director of Operations of OOCL shipping line in Vietnam, believes that with modern equipment, TCTT is capable of receiving large ships, especially connecting Cai Mep with the East Coast of the United States.
At the event, leaders of TCTT Port and representatives of COSCO/OOCL shipping lines performed a welcoming ceremony for the OOCL Bauhinia, marking the beginning of an expected journey.
