Vegetable and fruit traders at Hoi Do market (Hai Duong city) have increased their imports of goods from Hanoi and through other sources to get goods from China.

According to statistics, as of September 13, storm No. 3 has caused more than 3,200 hectares of vegetables in the province to be flooded, broken, and crushed. Large vegetable growing areas were damaged, directly affecting the supply of green vegetables in Hai Duong province.

Major vegetable growing areas in the province such as Pham Tran (Gia Loc), communes in zone C (Kim Thanh), Pham Kha (Thanh Mien)... have all suffered heavy damage due to storms and floods, directly affecting the supply of green vegetables in Hai Duong province. Currently, many traders offer to buy onions at 3-4 million VND/bed, 30 million VND/sao, but many places have no onions left to sell.

According to Mr. Doan Huy Thai, a trader specializing in green vegetables and fruits at Hoi Do market (Hai Duong city), small traders here have increased their imports of vegetables and fruits in Hanoi and through other sources from China. However, this time, not only Hai Duong, but also many provinces and cities in the North have increased sharply in demand for green vegetables, and the difficulty of transportation after the storm and flood has pushed up the prices of green vegetables and fruits at warehouses and wholesale markets by 20-30% compared to normal.

At local markets in the province, the price of green vegetables has increased sharply compared to before storm No. 3 made landfall. At many local markets in Hai Duong city, on September 16, the price of water spinach was 18,000-20,000 VND/bunch, an increase of 8,000-10,000 VND/bunch, and Malabar spinach was 15,000-20,000 VND/bunch, an increase of 7,000-10,000 VND. Some tubers and fruits also increased in price, such as squash and gourd at 25,000-27,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000-15,000 VND/kg. Malabar spinach increased to 17,000 VND/bunch while it is usually only 8,000-10,000 VND, squash increased from 15,000 VND/kg to 28,000 VND/kg, pumpkin increased from 13,000 VND/kg to 25,000 VND/kg...

According to a survey by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters on September 16, at Tuan Viet market, Co Dung (Kim Thanh), the price of water spinach, Malabar spinach, and Malabar spinach is from 12,000-13,000 VND/bunch, 4,000-5,000 VND/bunch higher, jute is 15,000 VND/bunch, 3 times more expensive than before the storm. Green squash is 22,000 VND/kg, an increase of 7,000 VND, potatoes are 20,000 VND/kg, an increase of 3,000-5,000 VND/kg compared to before the storm...
