This is a project to convey to many people in an easy-to-understand way the historical and cultural connection between the two countries through manga comics - a type of culture loved by children and adults in both Japan and Vietnam, and released for free on a special website celebrating the 50th anniversary.
The original work of the book is the original opera “Princess Anio” which premiered in Hanoi in September this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
Higashimura Akiko, a famous Japanese comic artist, drew the love story between Araki Sotaro - a merchant of Nagasaki region and Princess Ngoc Hoa of Nguyen Dynasty about 400 years ago.
The next part of the e-book will be released on July 7.
In addition, the book will also be released in paperback form with the cooperation of Neo Story Company (producing the Japanese edition) and Kim Dong Publishing House (translating into Vietnamese and publishing).
The paper book version is not expected to be sold on the market, but will be distributed for free to localities and educational institutions in Japan and Vietnam.
