The movement to build model gardens not only helps people change their awareness and produce scientifically, but also contributes to increasing income, improving life and creating a green - clean - beautiful environmental landscape.

In Duy Vinh commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, the construction of model gardens has become a widespread movement, bringing positive effects to the people. The model garden of Mr. Vo Duc Khanh, in Ha My village, Duy Vinh commune, Duy Xuyen district is full of green fruit trees. Implementing the policy of building model gardens, Mr. Khanh's family has renovated their garden of nearly 1,500m2 to grow fruit trees such as oranges, grapefruit, mango, jackfruit, papaya, etc.

Mr. Vo Duc Khanh said that since building the model garden, his life has improved and his family's economy has stabilized. Mr. Vo Duc Khanh also contributed money and land to build inter-village roads in the local new rural construction.

“The village has a policy of building new rural areas, I have built a model garden, my family responded, planted some fruit trees in the garden and kept the garden clean, participated in building roads, and contributed money to build roads. The people responded very well to this movement, the roads have been completed. Currently, the planning of new electric poles is more spacious and beautiful, not like in the past. Most of the people work, have stable income, many families have enough furniture for their homes,” Mr. Vo Duc Khanh said excitedly.

When starting to build a model new rural residential area, 100% of village roads, inter-hamlet roads, village roads, and alleys were concreted, flowers and shade trees were planted, and people were mobilized to clean up every Sunday. Mr. Nguyen No, head of Ha My village, Duy Vinh commune, Duy Xuyen district, said that the appearance of the countryside is increasingly spacious, and people's lives have been significantly improved: "From the capital source of the New Rural Program, we support people from 4 to 5 million, and support people to renovate their gardens, and encourage people to plant some more fruit trees with economic value such as mango, grapefruit, guava, and tangerine. The whole village has 9 households building model gardens. In the future, if community tourism develops, the model gardens will be destinations for tourists to visit and experience."

The entire Duy Xuyen district has 39 model rural residential areas and 195 model gardens. In recent years, Duy Xuyen district has supported more than 1 billion VND to invest in developing model gardens. Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, said that the policy of building model gardens has contributed to changing the awareness and actions of each person in developing the garden economy, creating a rich and vibrant rural landscape.

“In the new rural construction program, the rural appearance is increasingly spacious, the environment is increasingly green and clean, cultural and spiritual life is increasingly improved, income is increasing, and the district has gradually developed in general. Currently, the rural appearance is increasingly developing. From there, a number of model gardens have appeared to increase people's income. In the coming time, the district will continue to replicate this model,” Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong informed.

Up to now, in Quang Nam province, there have been more than 220 model new rural residential areas with more than 350 model gardens, mainly concentrated in Duy Xuyen, Dai Loc, Dien Ban and Tien Phuoc districts. The model gardens mainly grow fruit trees with high economic efficiency such as pepper, cinnamon, grapefruit, mangosteen, guava... with stable consumption markets. On average, each of these gardens earns an income of 150 to 200 million VND/year.

Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that the construction of a new model rural residential area and the formation of model gardens have initially brought about results, creating a premise for clean agriculture, organic agriculture, and gradually forming a sustainable ecological landscape. From there, the household economy has developed, the living environment has improved, and the neighborhood has become more closely connected.

"In the coming time, we will strongly promote and strengthen model new rural areas, going deep into each village, residential area and model new rural commune. The center of building model new rural areas is the people, to develop the economy as well as develop people's lives. The direction of the Provincial People's Committee is to continue to support, the budget for new rural areas, especially model rural areas is increased compared to the previous time", Mr. Ho Quang Buu added.
