With early investment in infrastructure, especially seaports, airports, roads and railways, Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of THACO, believes that Quang Nam will become a logistics center.

At the announcement ceremony of Quang Nam province's planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) said that in recent times, we have developed investment in automobile assembly production, developed the production of spare parts to increase the input ratio and develop logistics.

“During this period, THACO achieved the result of forming the role and position of a dynamic enterprise of Quang Nam province. Along with this development, we aim to ensure the investment and development of THACO, Quang Nam, and continue to develop sustainably,” Mr. Tran Ba Duong emphasized.

Mr. Tran Ba Duong said that THACO has invested in ports and systems, but logistics costs are still 20% higher than at the two ends of the country. To deal with this difficulty, THACO has imported components for production, assembly, and export, but there is still a shortage of goods.

We realized that in Quang Nam, although we have invested in ports and systems for logistics, the logistics costs here are still 20% higher than at the two ends of the country. And the key point to deal with this is that we have imported goods which are components for production, assembly and export. But we are still lacking export goods. So, with a chance, we have developed large-scale agricultural production in Laos, Cambodia and the highlands through the acquisition of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Company. Up to now, we have formed a production model of growing tropical fruit trees (mango, grapefruit, durian) and especially bananas and pineapples, specializing in organic farming with a large-scale production foundation, applying mechanization and industrial management throughout the value chain. With the development of agriculture, by the end of this year we will have about 1,000 tons/day of fresh goods for export and next year about 2,000 tons of fresh fruit per day. And so on an average day we have 100 - 200 containers exported.

“For the logistics industry, we have conducted research according to the planning of Quang Nam province, and will be determined to participate in bidding for the Cua Lo project. In addition, along with the road traffic system, we will also study road investment in the form of BOT to focus on transportation from Southern Laos, Northern Cambodia and the Central Highlands to Chu Lai, thus the reality of the planning announced today.

We have invested in infrastructure early, and with large cargo ships coming in, logistics costs will be solved. When logistics costs are low, other investors will come to the Central region in general and Quang Nam in particular," Mr. Tran Ba Duong analyzed.

According to Mr. Tran Ba Duong, in the automobile sector, THACO is still developing and leading the market with a market share of about 38%. For supporting industrial mechanics, there is now 1 mechanical processing and manufacturing complex and 22 supporting industrial factories.

For the Industrial Center of medicinal herbs and agricultural processing industry, with an area of 85,000 hectares for agricultural production.

Regarding this field, Mr. Tran Ba Duong shared that to form a medicinal center, we do not only look at Ngoc Linh ginseng and cinnamon, but we also look at a large source of medicinal land and participate in the value chain for production.

“With today's planning announcement, we see that the role of continuing to develop according to the planning is the automobile industry, supporting mechanical engineering, industrial production, pharmaceuticals and agriculture and forestry, especially, becoming a logistics center for goods in Quang Nam, the Central region is very feasible.

I will be determined to implement this program and in our plan for the period 2022 - 2027, we will soon form the goals set by the province for the sectors", Mr. Tran Ba Duong emphasized.

According to the planning of Quang Nam province for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, industrial development will follow the direction of a circular economy, high specialization and automation; rapidly increase the contribution of the processing and manufacturing industry and become the main pillar in the economy. Promote the development of the automobile manufacturing and assembly industry, mechanical, electrical and electronic products; form a national multi-purpose mechanical and automobile center, develop supporting industries associated with logistics services, seaport, airport and railway logistics. By 2030, Quang Nam province's industry will have a number of modern, highly specialized, internationally branded processing and manufacturing industries/products, with stable and sustainable development; Chu Lai Open Economic Zone will become a dynamic economic zone of the region and the country....

To realize the above goal, Quang Nam province has also proposed specific solutions. In particular, for the mechanical, automobile and supporting industries for automobile manufacturing and assembly: Encourage investment in mechanical manufacturing factories, combined mechanical industrial projects to manufacture and assemble finished products of machinery with high demand in the domestic and export markets. Attract investment in developing supporting industries for the mechanical industry such as manufacturing components and spare parts to supply factories producing finished products such as energy-saving electric motors, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, and means of transport.

Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee issued Plan 316-KH/TU on June 17, 2020 to implement Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the orientation of Vietnam's national energy development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Accordingly, priority is given to developing renewable energy sources and new energy suitable to the province's conditions.

By 2030, the textile and textile support industry will continue to be an important economic sector of Quang Nam province, so it needs to be maintained and developed.
