On October 15, Quang Nam Provincial Museum coordinated with the People's Committee of Duy Hai Commune (Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province) to open an exhibition of maps and documents with the theme "Hoang Sa and Truong Sa of Vietnam - Historical and legal evidence".

Speaking at the event, Director of Quang Nam Provincial Museum, Mr. Tran Van Duc said: This is one of the activities to continue to focus on propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on issues related to the sea and islands.
The exhibition provides and introduces to the people historical and legal documents and evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty, thereby promoting propaganda and fostering love for the sea and islands, homeland and country, raising awareness, responsibility and joint actions to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the cause of national construction and defense.
The exhibition displays many documents, texts, artifacts, publications and nearly 100 maps collected from many previously published sources by domestic and international researchers and scholars.
These evidences include Han Nom, Vietnamese and French documents issued by Vietnamese feudal courts from the 17th century to the early 20th century, affirming that Vietnam established and continuously exercised sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Notably, there are 20 copies of Nguyen Dynasty records dating from the reign of King Gia Long (1802 - 1819) to the reign of Bao Dai (1925 - 1945); 4 atlases (maps) published by the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China...
The exhibition is an important information and communication activity contributing to raising awareness, solidarity and responsibility of the people, especially the youth, in protecting and affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos through published historical and legal documents.
The exhibition runs until October 18 and is expected to welcome nearly 1,500 visitors.
