Scientific seminar "Military Region 4 - Resilient frontline, solid rear" (live update)

This is a practical activity towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975/April 30, 2025) to review the heroic tradition of our Party, people and Army; highlight the great merits and contributions of the heroic army and people of Military Region 4 in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

In the glorious struggle of the nation, the land of Military Zone 4 was chosen and entrusted by history to become both a solid rear base for the South to fight the enemy and a front line to protect the socialist North, fostering the traditions and qualities of the heroic Zone 4 people. The tradition of the army and people of Military Zone 4 is the inheritance, promotion and development of the glorious traditions of the nation, the Army and the homeland, formed and crystallized from hardships and challenges. That tradition carries within it the quintessence and spirit of the nation and the Army, and the unique characteristics of the land and the qualities of the people of Zone 4.

After 4 months of preparation, the Organizing Committee of the Conference received nearly 50 presentations from the Heads of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders of provinces, cities, agencies and units in Military Region 4; heroes, generals, scientists, researchers and historical witnesses.

With rich scientific and practical arguments, evidences, and points, the presentations affirmed and clarified the ingenious leadership of our Party in the resistance war against the American imperialists, especially the strategic thinking of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the proactive preparation of the campaign by the army and people of Military Region 4; the merits, dedication, and contributions of the army and people of Military Region 4 in protecting and building the socialist rear, providing human and material support to the battlefields; clarifying the people's war posture, the art of warfare; the unified bloc of "resilient frontline - solid rear" and the lesson of combining the strength of the army and people in the resistance war against the US to save the country in Military Region 4; clarifying the requirements and content of scientific research, providing arguments and evidences, creating the basis and premise for building and enhancing the combined strength of the armed forces of Military Region 4 in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland...

  In his welcoming speech at the workshop, Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 4, outlined the historical tradition, culture, and human qualities of Region 4 and emphasized: Wherever and in any conditions and circumstances, the Army and people of Region 4 are always for the whole country, with the whole country, both excellently completing domestic tasks and fulfilling glorious international obligations to the Lao and Cambodian revolutions, contributing with the nation to defeat the two largest empires in the 20th century, bringing our country into a new era - the era of national independence associated with socialism. Throughout the 80-year journey of construction, fighting and development, the Military Region's armed forces have proactively overcome difficulties, constantly innovated, created, united, focused on consolidating and strengthening national defense potential, building an all-people national defense, an all-people national defense posture associated with an increasingly solid people's security posture; The overall quality of the Military Region's armed forces, especially the political mettle of officers and soldiers and the combat readiness of units, is increasingly consolidated and improved.   The Political Commissar of Military Region 4 emphasized: In today's workshop, we will continue to analyze more deeply the great contributions and contributions of the armed forces and people of Military Region 4 in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Clarifying the lessons learned in leadership and direction of joint military and service operations; the art of building and managing the battle situation; the art of combining the strength of the rear and frontline, mobilizing human resources, material resources, ensuring logistics and technology to serve the campaign, thereby applying them to training, combat readiness, building the people's armed forces, and building the Military Region's defense zone in the new situation. From there, building trust and pride in the glorious tradition of the Party and the nation, and infinite gratitude to beloved President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic military and people of Military Region 4; continuing to foster and improve political mettle, foster revolutionary ethics, and improve professional qualifications; Building the Military Region's Armed Forces to be increasingly strong, excellently completing all assigned tasks; contributing to firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new situation.

  Presenting the introduction to the workshop, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, outlined the beauty of the land and people of Zone 4 - a land full of difficulties, but the people are rich in patriotism, indomitable spirit, solidarity, creativity and aspiration to rise up. These qualities not only shined during the resistance war, but also continued to be nurtured and promoted during the renovation period, contributing to building a strong and prosperous Vietnam. Major General Doan Xuan Bo emphasized: When mentioning Zone 4, each of us can easily imagine a narrow, poetic strip of land with Truong Son on one side and white sand on the other. And along with that are resilient people, forever rising up against the sun and wind, forever overcoming hardships and challenges, forever steadfast, resilient, indomitable, creative, and not sparing blood and bones to protect the homeland and the country. Mentioning Zone 4 in the Ho Chi Minh era is mentioning a sacred land of talented people, the place where many revolutionary movements were nurtured, where the enemy was determined to destroy every blade of grass, and also where we were determined to demonstrate the spirit and will of the entire nation: Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves. Therefore, to reach the day of total victory on April 30, 1975, our nation had to pay with so much blood; to reach Saigon, our nation had to calm down and pass through Dong Loc, Thach Han, Vinh Linh, Con Tien - Doc Mieu, Cua Viet... along with many other painful but proud names of lands and villages.

  Suggesting issues for discussion at this workshop, Major General Doan Xuan Bo suggested that the delegates attending the workshop continue to affirm and deepen some of the following main contents about the position and role of Military Region 4 in the resistance war against the US, saving the country. Analyze the geographical location, political and military significance of Military Region 4 - an important area, both the front line and the great rear of the whole country. Clarify the leadership and direction of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense towards Military Region 4 in the resistance war against the US, saving the country. Clarify the role of the army and people of Military Region 4 in the resistance war, especially in major campaigns, typical battles, heroic units, and brave fighting examples. With theories and practices, the workshop summarized the art of combat in people's war, combining attack and defense, building a continuous battle formation between the main force, local troops, militia and guerrillas. The people of Zone 4 nurtured and protected the troops; the army and people united to build a solid rear and a resilient frontline. People's war and revolutionary heroism were highly promoted in the area of ​​Military Zone 4. The workshop will draw lessons and apply them in the current period in organizing forces, commanding operations, and building armed forces in modern warfare conditions. Promoting the spirit of solidarity between the army and the people, continuing to build a national defense posture, and building defense zones in the area of ​​Military Zone 4 in the new situation.
