Rice countryside of Le Thuy district, provinceQuang BinhThere are still many ancient vermicelli trees and newly grown ones. The vermicelli tree, although its name sounds rustic and somewhat weak, is a sturdy and solid tree that can withstand floods, droughts and even storms in the central region. Currently in Loc Thuy commune, the hometown of General Vo Nguyen Giap, there is a vermicelli tree that is hundreds of years old, reflecting on the cool Kien Giang river.
The Bun tree originates from Japan and Australia, but is found in many provinces and cities in the North Central region such as Quang Binh and Hue. The Bun tree has a rather sturdy and solid trunk, and its branches are especially flexible, becoming the “tool” for us children to swing on every afternoon when bathing in the Kien Giang River during our childhood. During the blooming season of the Bun flower, Kien Giang river wharf in An Xa village, Loc Thuy commune, the hometown of the legendary general, becomes an attractive destination for many people to check-in and take souvenir photos with this wild flower. Bun flowers have pure white and yellow petals. From March to April, the bun plants in Le Thuy bloom, making the whole sky bright yellow. When blooming, the stamens are bristling like spider webs. In Loc Thuy commune, the vermicelli plant grows along the riverbank, in front of the fields, and along the village roads. In the spring, under those flower umbrellas, children play and the elderly find their childhood memories of going to school with a branch of vermicelli flowers in their hands. At the end of the season, also in early summer, the flowers gradually turn deep yellow and then form oval, ivory-white flowers hanging on the tree. Pose next to the vermicelli flower branch
